What a bummer. The bottom 1944 badge is numbered 407! Hmm.

That's a shame. Until I turned these documents up there was no way of knowing which badge was awarded to who, or indeed which groups of Meisterschütze badges belonged together, people would just swap out badges for those in a better condition etc.

On a slightly more postive note I also know whose badge that one is. I'll email you.

      Cheers
      Don

        3 year Gaumeister award

        Hi,

Would anyone have an approximate value for the Large, 3 year Gaumeister award? I was offered one locally at $350, but I don't know if that amount is over paying. I tried to find someone on the internet who is selling one to gauge the price, but I can't find one for sale. Thanks

The price is a little high, they tend to sell for about $200. One sold here http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...Item=328762227 a few weeks back for $250, but it had been on sale for quite some time before it sold. The condition of the badge will have an effect on the price, can you get a picture of it?

If you can find out what the number is on the reverse, I can tell you whether it was an awarded piece.

          Cheers
          Don

            Don,

The Number on the reverse is 937. The enamel and badge look great. There was no damage to the enamel, pin. etc....As far as condition goes it looks very much like the link you sent. The wreath was non magnetic and the center and pin were magnetic. Thanks

That is an un-awarded piece, these were released onto the collectors market around the time that the old shooting building in Innsbruck was being cleared for demolition. I assume that stores were found within the building. Whatever the story of their discovery, they are genuine pieces, there is no doubt about that.

Thanks Don. I'll see about getting the price down to the $200 mark. If I get the award I will post the pics. Thanks Again

                  Very Nice

Superb collection of Tirol Shooting Badges Don. I too appreciate these Badges.
I have a few including the Small Bore Masterclass in 1940. That one like yours is massive and weighty. The earlier ones (like most TR awards) were made well.

Beautiful collections of shooting badges displayed here. the cased set is awsome. its great to see the rollingcatch mechanical device again. its more and more proof that this catch was used in Germany close to, and during ww2

As some of you are aware, I have been specialising in this area for a time & hope to publish a book on the subject sometine in the future.

In the meantime I thought I'd post a couple of scans showing some of the groups I have (bronze, silver, gold & gold with oakleaves)......

Also, please see my thread in the wanted section http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=648604
