Kreisschießen Dornbirn 1944. Unfortunately the gold with oakleaves has lost it's gold finish, an upgrade needed here .

      More later.

A feast for the eye "der bingle", some lovely pieces you have there.....

In answer to your question, yes, as far as I am concirned the 1943 Kitbühel Meister Klasse is a fake (or rather a fantasy piece based on an original design).

The construction does not match other Tiroler Kreisschießen badges & so far, I have not been able to find any period evidence of it existance. Period publications show the Kreisschießen version with the gold wreath, but not MeisterKlasse.....

            Cheers
            Don

Thanks Don, a thread like this brings out the best in all of us. thanks for your reply on the questionable meisterklasse. it was one of the last pieces i purchaced before slowing down to a halt 10 years ago....i was always suspicious of the fastner with the uneven split. the circular base that almost looks good. also for a long pin its very thin. regards, Carl

                Hi Carl,

Yes it is an odd piece. I believe that it was made by Floch, but I cannot say for sure. It is well enamelled though.

                Cheers

iagree Don, Its a massive and well made piece, tho the needle is so long and thin for the weight of the badge...................the top three on my montage are pollath marked on the pin base......................the rest are klammer marked on the badge it self .

You nearly had me going there, I was about to say that I'd never seen the Kitzbühel & Kufstein with any other mark but Poellath .

                      Cheers

Very nice Del. You may be interested to know that 1014 of these were awarded during the course of the shoot....

do you know if they are reproducing any of these badges?

in particular the one shown earlier in thread via this link

There are a few fake Tiroler shooters about, but thankfully not many. There is the Kitzbühel Meisterklasse mentioned earlier, a Reutte 1944 with oakleaves & a Kufstein 1944 with oakleaves. Lately a fake 1944 Meistershütze has appeared on the market, but that is easy to spot if you know waht to look for. But that's about all at the moment.

There's nothing wrong with the bronze 1939 on that link & they have not yet been faked. It can also be found made by C.Poellath, Schrobenhausen.

                                Cheers
