    DRK Alpen Rettungsdienst badge

I have to assume that someone on this forum may know some more about this badge.

    Hello Richard

Unfortunatelly I don't know anything more about this DRK-Alpen Rettungsdienst badge. I'll try more investigation; perhaps Bill knows more!!!

At the present time I guess no one can shed any light on this badge. I thought originally that maybe Ben might have been the one who might know something definatively about this badge with his "looks like an award because of it's appearance but it's a service badge" but I guess not. Nice looking badges in any case. Happy
      collecting to all.

          Hi Bill,
I remember the dealer's name; Galerie d'Histoire=Huesken ; He sells a DKR alpen rettungsdienst badge.I give here the link; look at that badge.
          what remarks is:
1)That badge is in silver , mine is in gold; so I asked Huesken if this difference is on base of distinction so Ehrenzeichenmedal( meritmedal)He answered; no it is service medal.
I presume that the goldwash on that shown badge is gone ;what stays is silver.
          2) Huesken gives a date; 1940, so that is an indication for more authentic!

Manion has a badge in auction too!

          regards Ben

            Ben,
No one's getting pissy on you Ben so don't worry about it. My apologies if you took offense at my last posting. I thank you for your information regarding Husken info. Perhaps eventually we'll get some solid info on this badge.

                Ben,

Yes these came in a couple of sizes & with various forms of attachment. They can be found with stick pins, spring type pins (as shown here), & with prongs for attaching to caps.

It is also found with the Type 1 eagle (this one is type 2).

                Cheers

Thanks for sharing James. It's nice to see them side by side for comparison like that.

                      Cheers

Regarding the Red cross alpine rescue badge spoken of in this thread there is a thread pertaining to same badge in the General Wehrmacht awards forum just in case you haven't seen it. Again the badge is said to be bogus but I don't know why.

That is the type badge worn on the Red Cross visor cap where the national eagle is worn on the army cap.

                              Hello Benbaars and all,
yes there are a few more answers posted there but I still haven't heard a fully convincing one to me that makes it a bogus piece. Wait and see as you said I guess.

                                Hi Duzig and Richard V.

I found this link of the Krankenschwestern( nurses)museum in Berlin .Several musea in Germany seem to have this badge( Nürnberg, München)
As owners of the DRK Alpenrettungsdienst badge ; we can presume that this badge as TYPE existed in ww2-time. If our badge are authentic or fakes ..that is the question.
                                kind regards, Ben Baars
