    DRK pin on Badge

How about this one? It was a little item out of a buy I had done in the past. Alot of times I keep little items like this. Is this one common? It's very small, who would wear it? Female pin on badge?

Perry, According to Hüsken's book it's a (German Red Cross civil badge) I would imagine it could have been worn by both male or female helper's. It's a fairly commen pin.

        German Red Cross pin

I've only ever seen photographs of DRK male helpers wearing them. That's not to say that female helpers didn't wear them. If anyone has photos of DRK female helpers wearing this pin, I'd appreciate a scan of one Thanks!

I passed on a small I.D type photo only last week of a woman wearing a badge of this type. She wore it at the throat like a broach. I would liked to have bought it, but the seller wouldn't take Paypal & the cost of sending the cash to Germany by recorded post made it impractical .

If I get a chance again I'll get a scan & post it here.

          Cheers
          Don

drkfrau, I believe you are correct as to the male DRK members wearing this style of badge on their uniforms, visor, field and overseas caps it was also worn on their civilian cloths when off duty.

Don, The female nurses worn either a round or oval Service brooch at the throat with a similar design, (not to say it couldn't happen) here's one that I have.

Yes, I agree & have many pics of the various round & oval ones being worn. However, this was a passport size pic of a woman who looked about 30-ish in a nurses uniform with this small adler pin at her throat .

I definitely wish I'd picked it up now Nice badge by the way. Can we see a pic of the reverse?

              Cheers

                DRK Pin on Badge

Cool, that there is a photo of a woman wearing the pin I have one of these pins and didn't know if I could wear it on my reenacting uniform or civvies. Now, it won't just collect dust in my display case I also have a variation of the round DRK Nurses' badge but it doesn't have the adler on it. In Hüsken's book, it's listed as a wartime badge. I'd send a pic of the front and back but i don't know how to attach pics to this forum.

                Michele

                  Hi Michele,

There's a guide on the testing & technical advice section that explains how to post pix. However, you have to part with you cash ($20) & become an association member before you can add pix.

I'm not sure if it's allowed here or not , but you can send them to me if you wish & I'll pop them up for you. PM me for the email addy.

                  Cheers

                      DKR alpen rettungsdienst

                      Here's a link to a very nice DRK-badge .

I have a simular badge; It maesures 40mm.This badge is fitt together with 2 revets ; an upperpart redcross with swastica on silver edelweiss, rope and pickle and ski's , mouted on enamelled ring and ....however......the man who constucted mine together put the upperpart revers; so "my ski's" point downwards!!! and to my feeling it gives a better composition . However I have a webcamera and I made a good satisfying picture of it ( difficult to get a good picture,I have to make several pictures for a nice result ;Once I hope to get a better camera.
So now only a link to TRD ThirdReichDepot page 2 with correct mounted parts.

                            Hello all
I have an example of the oval varient nurses badge posted on webshots if anyone is interested.
Ben, I have the exact same DRK mountain rescue badge and was wondering if you can tell me anything about it. If not mistaken I have read somewhere that these items are completely bogus yet I have seen one for sale on a reputable dealers site about a year ago. Quite a beautiful badge and well made but I have no info on it at all. Any help in this area? I have posted pics at webshots of this
