and in response to peter j.'s thoughts,
i have considered that this may be some sort of
1957 version: no hakenkreuz allowed, i presume that the
DRA and '33 DRL were not banned, as they were
pre-existing (prior to third reich), and it was a measure
of a man to retain this award as disabled veteran.

i don't posit this as truth, but just for some consideration.

warlord, all i can say, in having a complete set of DRA's, DRL-33,
and DRL-37, plus all of the SA's, that i have seen or handled
a wide variety of the war woundeds, and this one is right.

BTW, the gentleman i purchased this from in berlin is one
who is one of the VERY FEW people i would buy a piece from
sight unseen. we each have a level of trust, and he has not
lost mine in better than five years of buying from him.

on looking at the items i can honestly say i overlooked the lack of the swaz on the pin i still think the main badge ok but revamped to the owners preferance. in saying this i think post war by the set up of the screws and thread type used. my opion only

The Sports badge was not authories in the 1957 orders. A new form was introduced. The min of this 1957 form is a badge on a piece of ribbon. As to the large badge, with the modification the badge had to be resilvered. Thus no way of obtaing the original finish. So again one has a non period min badge that has been reworked and in the case of the large badge an original badge that has had changes and a refinnish. If this had been done after 1942, I would have thought that the min would have been of the correct type.

Joe, I have no intentions of being rude, but perhaps you should have a more open mind to the responses you recieve. The fact that you have a bunch of these badges and handled further more doesn't make you an expert (nor me).
As for your opinion about the "flawless" german friend, perhaps you should revaluate it, the miniature is not a period WD piece.
I'll let you in on a secret. I've been collecting 3R for more than 30 years and I thought I was pretty good at it. To tell you the truth, after entering this Forum, I 've realized that I'm an amateur . So why not lay back and appreciate the multitude of knowledge found on this Forum.

i am a little concerned that i may be striking you
as confrontational in some fashion. all i was portraying
in my earlier comments was that i've handled enough
pieces and talked with enough people that i was
comfortable buying these rather unusual pieces. and
i will be the first in a LONG line who readily admit that
i am no expert.

as to purchasing from someone "flawless", there are perhaps
two or three people i've met over the past 10 years of collecting
and 40+ years of interest in military history who even approach
flawless. all i was saying was that i had a high level of regard for his
knowledge and business practices.

i hope this puts my perspective in some perspective. it was
never my intention that this thread head in this direction.

that the DRL was a pre-war organization
that would not be proscribed after the war.
