          Nick/Theodore,
          Thanks for posting....
Nick, can you make out if those caps in your photo have triangular eagles on them? Any period photos showing these birds?

              Hello,

I dislike the construction of this insignia and nothing here has changed my mind. What other pieces of Third Reich insignia are made like this?? None that I know of. Being in Angolia's book isn't a sell either. He posted pictures of all the fake crap eagles that Johannes Flock brought into this country too!! The roundel looks bad as well as the hat. I wont believe any of this stuff is good until I see some other insignia made like this and some original period photos of this triangular eagle being worn.

hey Fred,,,probably from the infamous 'bin of bad' cloth we been seeing at the SOS/MAX shows from years back.
Haven't been to the SOS in a few years so haven't seen it. Not at the MAX the last 2 years.. That stuff is in circulation out there somewhere!

Who knows...? Yes agreed reference books do contain errors....
It is a factory stitched application on the referenced M43 cap though...(not handsctitched...)
but agreed it is a little too "hairy" on the backside (seen on known fake Heer insignia),
                  but very good details overall...

                      Hello,

Factory stitching means absolutely nothing! If I wanted to sell it I also would machine sew it on.

We need to see some other pieces of insignia made like this. I call this style of manufacture a reverse Bevo or single bevo. It is not a true bevo weave in any sense of the term.

                        Fred,
The mass of reverse threads between the eagle and the triangular border is due to the border, see examples below of german made HJ triangle and (on small scale) ss cloth tag. The border on this eagle was meant to be displayed (if the pictured m43 style cap is to be believed).

Reverse threads fill triangle and circles:

I think this eagle may be Belgian made, this ss one posted by Nick in a previous thread shows the same type of reverse detail:

Yes the reverse threads fill the back but they are not part of the outline of the triangle. The outline of the triangle is separate from this stitching, it isn't even stitched the same way.
