I've searched the threads and see these are somewhat controversial as to trying to decipher if SS (period piece) versus not period, etc. Anyone with any expertise that can speak on this one? No maker mark on the reverse. Thanks for any help.

Yes it has a life rune, but this has nothing to do with SS, although it seems to be a period (20's to 50's) piece

Yes, it is Dutch text, but would the Dutch SS not have also had the same ceremonial plates given at their weddings? Was there some kind of requirement that such a motto would not be used on a plate? I guess I ask, because there were obviously some differences between the German SS and the the Dutch SS so is it possible more 'Christian' sayings on these plates may have existed in other countries like the Netherlands. Just curious.Last edited by wolfslair44; 03-14-2017, 05:40 PM.

Bowl
IMO, such items are cultural, and it's likely that they were in many SS households, although it's unlikely it has any SS connection other than cultural similarity. Referring to it as a Dutch SS item would be misrepresentation, IMO.
That doesn't diminish it's appeal, though. Much more likely to be authentic than a carved SS bowl....that's the good news.

I could not agree more, those referring to these plates as being specifically SS are only trying to drive their price up!
I have one in my collection and like it for what it is, a nice cultural plate and nothing more.

I don't think there is a debate that the SS gave these as ceremonial wedding plates. It sounds like from what others are saying, that many homes had similar plates to display, so without provenance from a family member, it's pretty difficult to determine what would be an "SS Plate" versus a "Cultural Plate" that many supporters of the NSDAP would have in their homes. Or am I mistaken?

This post and your sales on the e-stand have been reported to the moderators. I don't see how they can't deny this any longer.
Having the ascicial guts to even dare to post this picture i something!!!
For the 1000th time at least: just because a German (farmers) cultural item that has been around for centuries BEFORE the existence of the SS and even POST WAR, has been pictured or used by the SS says absolutely nothing. You very well know this, you made countless topics with the same lies, you keep replying the same nonsense with these very same pictures, again again and again, always keep coming up with the same nonsense evidence.
So the plate on Ebay (of which there are every day similar ones, with all the same motos you claim are SS and which are all just advertised as regular German items from others times then the Third reich period) is SS too? So are all others offered every day? The same ones you tried to falsify and lie to the WHOLE WAF FORUM on for years? Nonsense.
Now, come on, reply with your alias account Quickie. Type some more ilies, show some more non evidence and the same pictures you have posted countless times before. Or are you going to have another conversation with yourself over your multiple forumaliasaccounts Quickie/ThorstenBbeine?
Just like every topic before that you got involved in, it will ultimately get locked after people understand the lies. Why you are protected is one of the biggest mysteris on WAF.
