Dear collector friends.

I am busy planning a volume 2 of my blood order book. It has been 4 years since the first effort and I have been lucky enough to acquire a good amount of new material in to my collection. Some cracking pieces with wonderful stories, and through this Corona virus period I have been putting down the starts to the book in amongst my day job, it has served as a positive release from the tensions of current life under lockdown!

The first collectors book I ended up producing around 80, however I could probably have done with another 30-40 afterwards, but I’m not planning to re print that version for a variety of reasons, mainly I cannot get anywhere near the price to print needed to keep the book reasonably priced for collectors.

What I am planning to do is produce another 100 page full colour effort that will commence with around 70 pages of new material and 30 pages featuring my ‘top 5’ medals/groups from book volume 1. Those pages won’t simply just be a re print from the first book, as in many cases I have new material such as freshly found photos or documents to go with those medals, and I plan to re photograph anyway.

So the plan now is to continue working on the volume 2 and hopefully have that produced by the end of the summer/autumn. This time I’ll be producing the book in landscape, hardcover, and quality paper and colours as before.

People were very generous with their feedback of the first effort and I know what is expected this time around, it won’t be printed until it is right and something that I am happy people will enjoy owning on their shelf.

For now I don’t need orders, on this thread, I think it is easier I will start a new thread shortly, so please keep your eyes peeled. And I will post here again when I have started a fresh thread.

(still time to have your blutorden included in the book - just need to sell it me first

Hi Mil, awesome charity and one that I already support, just enjoying my morning tea as it so happens...
In terms of book cost, as anyone who has put a book of any kind together will tell you it really is a labour of love, and you certainly don’t do it as a money spinner. With time spent on the project factored in it costs you a lot of money to produce for sure, and I don’t want to pass extra cost on to collectors. Most collectors support their own charities I am sure, especially at this time where a lot of people are supporting Covid related causes. I know I do, last year I personally raised and donated around £4000 to charity. So I don’t plan to add a charity contribution to the book and leave people to make their own decisions about who they support and when 👍

Yes I will update this thread shortly and make a new one as I need to fairly soon know how many I am having printed.
