Part of an article from the Milwaukee Sentinel that mentions Jaeger.
Interesting to note that, while Milwaukee was predominantly German at the time, there is an anti-German bias in place as early as 1935:

He had an interesting live, that´s for sure! Do you know anything about his WWI service?

a great pleasure to have a look at this material. The photos with the wearing of the brocades are for me of an even more and bigger interest and should find a place in a buckle- and brocades book. I know someone who is working at such book (in Germany).
        Wilhelm,

feel free to forward my email address to the gentleman in Germany. I will gladly provide high-res. scans for the publication!

I'm in the process of researching his life and am just getting started. Thanks to stonemint, I have an entirely new aspect to investigate now (believe it or not, but I had not yet noticed his service in the United States and only focussed on Spain where he had also served before the rise of Fascism).

Here are two Spanish articles from 2003 and 2013...

Too bad Jaeger did not write his memoirs after the war-- would have been a fascinating read (however, Kurt can always write his biography once he has completed his research....
