Jungstahlhelm pin

The Jungstahlhelm pin in my collection was purchased more than ten years ago and cost $38.00 at the time. It is my impression that this pin is fairly common among the dealers, though I admit that, after adding one to my collection, I have taken little notice of them since then. Mine is marked "Steinhauer & Lück" and I believe all the others I've seen were marked similarly -- which is not to say that other makers may not have supplied the Steel Helmet League over the years; certainly other makers provided various other supporter's pins for them.
Cheers,
Br. James

Well, Patrick, Ratisbon is free to set their own guarantee, no matter what the piece is really worth in the market, and I guess that's what they've done! I see no evidence on the reverse of this piece that it was cast in .900 silver or in any silver content; these pieces were normally stamped out of sheet metal. But in the end, Ratisbon is free to set the opening guarantee at any amount they choose...
