I've got one like it but haven't seen many of them, possibly due in part to it's small size, easy to lose or misplace over the years.

That's funny Garry. I found this one a year ago. Saw the auction and searched everywhere, no luck... Last night it turned up in an unlikely pile.

Here's a cool photo I found of the Crown Prinz

are they all S&L's? The one on Ratisbon's was bid up to the price of 120 euros by more than one bid and started low. And, there is a 17% fee plus postage on top of that!

The Jungstahlhelm pin in my collection was purchased more than ten years ago and cost $38.00 at the time. It is my impression that this pin is fairly common among the dealers, though I admit that, after adding one to my collection, I have taken little notice of them since then. Mine is marked "Steinhauer & Lück" and I believe all the others I've seen were marked similarly -- which is not to say that other makers may not have supplied the Steel Helmet League over the years; certainly other makers provided various other supporter's pins for them.

              Cheers,

              Br. James

Well, Patrick, Ratisbon is free to set their own guarantee, no matter what the piece is really worth in the market, and I guess that's what they've done! I see no evidence on the reverse of this piece that it was cast in .900 silver or in any silver content; these pieces were normally stamped out of sheet metal. But in the end, Ratisbon is free to set the opening guarantee at any amount they choose...

Nothing to do with Ratisbons. Price BEGAN at 15e.

Bidders moved this to 140e all in.

Thanks for the clarification, Brian S -- I wasn't following Ratisbon's auction website.

Now I'm wondering if the big is one is the hat insignia and the smaller ones the lapel pieces.
