I am no expert, but I found a Kust piece, from my ads in the 1970s. Unfortunately, I did not have the forsight to keep it. Since I know that this maker is absolutely original, the only type I would want is the Paul Kust marked piece with the two plates holding the pin. These are rarely seen on the market and I was not financially ready when Helmut Weitze sold the badge he got from Craig Gottlieb Auctions. That was surely authentic and an exact match to the one I had from the US veteran's hands.

What evidence do we have of so many makers for such a few awardees?

None that I am aware of.
In my travels two types of badges make their appearances on the pages of history: Paul Kust type and another by one of his neighbors- call it XX for now.

Early or late, high rollers or card carrying nobodies, in Danzig or outside of West Prussia: so far all I came across have been of the two types mentioned above.

More complaints against you here Matt about insults and poor forum conduct. There must be a better way to get your opinion across? You seem to be quite knowledgeable in this area, don't spoil it with this behaviour.

what are you doing outside of social forums? Didn't go and start collecting, did you?

This is a thread about Danzig Gau Badge. What value exactly did you add to the discussion of it with your above post?

Yes, I was accused by the thread starter of lack of honesty who also called for my banishment. That was shortly before he was banned for dishonesty.
Later on, I was accused of lack of integrity by a member believed by some here of manufacturing and selling his own fake items- not exactly Mr. Credibility himself. As a side note- he added as much value to this discussion as you did.

I thank you for completing the trifecta by pointing out my rudeness when in fact your very first post addressed towards me was an insult.

I believe there are few threads that need your attention in Die Kneipe so I won't hold you here.
          Nice talking to you.

          cheers

Just back from the SOS. You have to excuse the terrible pics- they were taken with my phone so the quality is not there but judging by the width of the barrel this one seem to be of the more desirable variety. The veining on the bottom left is there as well, even if not immediately obvious. Unfortunately no measurements or weight on this one but thought I would post it nonetheless.
Most already know my stance on those but should anyone disagree- this one was offered for $600 by one of the dealers during the show. Details can be provided to those interested via PM.

            cheers

I certainly did not buy that Gau Danzig badge. The price was very cheap with the seller looking for a buyer who wants a bargain but willing to overlook the authenticity issue. I would happily pay 10 times this price for a Kust made badge.

forget flak. get me a sniper badge!

As hard as it was to find punters for those, even at very low price of $600, I got the feeling that the next best thing will be a hit. At least with few and for a little while. For those not familiar with what's next in the pipe (it is incredibly rare piece after all) brace yourself for the arrival of Danzig Sniper badge. Yes, there was one at the SOS if you're wondering.

                cheers
