Hi guys,
Wasn't sure exactly where to put this but this is a 78 rpm gramophone record of the Horst Wessel Song sung by the SA/SS choir so I think it fits in the political category.
It's a rare copy of the Horst Wessel Lied published on an Electrola 78 rpm record in 1933 to commemorate Hitlers rise to power. It is sung by the SA and SS choir, and is conducted by Alfred Engel. If there is any other information about it I would love to hear it from more knowledgeable forum members !
However, what interests me here is the record sleeve. Although the record is an Electrola brand, it is a Columbia sleeve, and although Electrola was owned by Columbia I find it unlikely that this was the original sleeve, however the sleeve is possible commemorating the 1940 olympics, which I find very interesting considering the record it holds!
Pictures:
Does anyone know anything about the location on the sleeve or Columbia and the 1940 olympics? Or anything else about the record itself? It's all a bit of an ironic mystery to me...
Thanks in advance
P.S. - you can take a listen to the record itself here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YEvK...ctr=1396781397
Try to avoid involving yourself in the comment section - some very unsavory debates occur down there...
