Franisque, you've just cleaned away 70 years of history.

Look at those terrible pock marks from the casting in the last photo. I do believe these were in the period, but this one looks like it might have been cheaply cast post 45 ?
And yes terrible cleaning it !! Maybe that's shown up the pock marks worse but I'm concerned about it's quality.

I cannot recall exactly but something about 600-800 Euros if I am not mistaken.

Not to worry Mil, you can buy as many more as you want from Germania International, check out this link http://www.germaniainternational.com...partyday4.html for only 1350 USD each- and they have also have a lovely patina - 70 years or at least 7 years -you decide. (Maybe treat these with a little bit of caution- although I am sure these are as real as the Nuremberg 1929 Reichsparteitag Nonportable Award above it........) Best Regards, Michael

They were for calling cards and I feel that this one is a repro.
I knew a guy 40 years ago with a real one.
It was very detailed, cast smooth and deliberately dark patinated bronze.
                          Charlie's doesn't look right either.

Removing that patina was a HUGE mistake!. Even if you take nice original bronze and macro shoot it your going to see flaws, you remove the patina and you will see more. If the scrounge dealer gets an original piece he simply duplicates it here in the states, but telling the difference in many cases having the patina is a help. This is just novice buyers with their simi-chrome and their Brasso and now he altered the piece which means no dealer is taking it back and authentication is an issue because of wartime and post war variables.

HERE HERE! as I always say 85 % of the present day TR collectors are basicly just clean freak nimrods who have to clean everything (because then they look better), so how can they have any gray matter upstairs....knowing this fact that they are doing more harm than good, as many of the delicate finishes on many items is destroyed even with slight cleaning ,costs millions of dollars of value lost every year to not only those who just cannot learn to leave things alone, but to us all ,and yet these self destructive know it alls, cant scrub clean their own homes toilets , their wives and girlfriends have to do that after they p all over the seat to boot......my advice is :LEAVE NAZI STUFF ALWAYS AS FOUND....and start cleaning your own toilets instead...or start sitting down , and do your spouses a favor , and the sooner folks like this get disenchanted , the sooner they will go back to collecting coins or stamps or possibly unicorns where their time will be better spent .....juoneen(Im serious)

                                Thanks for comment.

Clean..or not clean.. an old question.
When I started collecting 20 years ago I'd heavy clean a very nice Kriegsmarine scabbard & remove the original gold finish that was present. Stupide decision!
Since this day I promise me never clean another original item & I agree that cleaning can detract an item that is here after 70 years untouched.

For this bowl I think it's different. 100% cuivre or 100% bronze made item can be clean without detract anything. The only thing I've remove is patina that will be here again in some month!

About cast mark I don't know if the other same item are similar after be cleaning but I'm certain about authenticity of mine. It was in an old french collection made after war. The same collection were I've found the Jägertisch posted here some weeks ago.

For Juoneen: it's easy to be desobligeous behind a computer. You can come here & put your head in my toilets. You'll see it's probably as clean as yours.

                                Thanks again for all comment.
