I agree that there's a good chance the SS runes were added post-war, but "gullible" is kinda harsh. That's the problem with such SS artifacts - there's often nothing to compare to, so it's a shot in the dark. Rare SS-marked item...........or post-war embellishment? Without provenance, it's usually wise to steer clear of such items. As for the metal bowl in this post - at least it's very well done. I wouldn't be so quick to discount this one. Problem is...............such pieces always leave you in doubt. Better to stick with items that aren't questionable.

Still skeptical, but is "good enough" that I might take a chance if it came from a "good source" (Vet./vet. family, non-collector/dealer "yard sale", "old" collection...); was cheap (Not more than $45./50.); and I had "money to burn".
Skeptical, but I agree this has a "25% chance"..... I'd display it if I liked what I saw "in hand".....
