Because they're the latest gotta haves.

From the looks of things prices are only going to keep going up!

        Damn straight!

Not to talk about the really exotic pieces from this series.
Too bad I did not really took care of these years back..but they never popped up here from vet´s estates like over the big lake.

Simple its all about demand. These are about the same price as a NM common SA dagger.

These are limited and many people are starting to realize the quality and history aspect. I have many people ask me to sell them a single example as a neat display item.

No really rare TR items can be touted as "investments", there are just not enough of them. If someone wants to pay $2000 for a AH spoon, or $9000 for AH ice tongs, more power to 'em. But when Witty starts touting them as an investment, I run the other way. For $2000 I can get a nice rarer dagger (would not pay that for an SA). For $6000 rather than a knife fork and spoon I could get that nice SA Rohm dagger on Johnson's site. To me it's just another example of a fad - first SS daggers, then TK rings and now AH silverware. If I really wanted to "invest" in AH silverware I'd dump my knives, forks and spoons and try to find the rarer pieces at reasonable prices.

Yes, PT Barnum was a genius.

Sadly Brian, the days of a nice original $300 SA dagger, any original WWII German helmet in great shape for $300, or a piece of AH silverware for $300....are long past.
But I understand your frustration, I miss the 1980's & 1990's as well! Shoot, gold was only $200 an ounce back then! Don't you just miss the $1 per gallon gas? I sure do!

Anybody who pays $2000 for a SA dagger is just as foolish as someone who pays $2000 for a AH spoon. If you want something Hitler really touched, buy his autograph.

That´s apples and oranges - these AH cutlery pieces are pieces of official Third Reich art on the highest possible level in every aspect.

And he may very well have touched his own sterling cutlery as well!

                          Eric,
It seems like everyone is saying items like AH sugar tongs are over priced. That being said, can I have yours for $2000

One chance out of a thousand. For $2200 I can buy a actual document signed by Hitler. Or if you want to see AH items with real provenance, go to Gottlieb's AH collection. For less than $2000 I just bought a bronze statue "Mother and Child" from the 1937 HDK exhibit. Now that's real art at a real price. If you want to be a cheerleader for "Anything TR at any price is good" go right ahead. I chose not to be. Then again I'm not a sales agent for HH.
