These sound like awesome photos indeed! I would love to see the set. If there is any way you could provide it to me, I would love to share it with members participating in this thread.

Are any of your photos of AH wearing a uniform or is he just in a business suit and overcoat?

Can you describe in detail the photo of Hitler at graveside wearing the armband with stripes on it?

Were there 3 white stripes on the armband?

With the armband was he wearing a dark business suit or was it a uniform with breeches and boots?

thank you for your contribution to our study

AH parteifuhrer uniform 2 final report

We've completed our discussion on AH uniform 2 M1927

Here's the final report of our findings:

              PARTEIFUHRER 2 M1927
              Party Leader Uniform 2

              HEADGEAR:
              * No form of service cap was worn, he was bareheaded same as other top party officials of the time. His haircut was bare over the ears with his hairline tapering diagonally back towards nape of neck. Forelock no longer combed back from his forehead.

              SERVICE SHIRT (diensthemd):

              * SA style shirt. Warm, dark brown in color, single-breasted, button-down collar, collar to shoulder buttons, pair of pleated breast pockets with triangulate flaps and cutoff borders, adjustable sleeve hem, buttoned french cuffs. Buttons made from mother-of-pearl. Shirt appears to be a pullover with 3 buttons up the single-breasted fly.

              * Waist and collarbone buttons smaller in size than other shirt buttons.

              * Shirt button count: 15

              * This was the same style shirt from the M1925 uniform

              NECKTIE:
Dark brown in color, wool material, worn full length

              ARMBAND:
NSDAP armband (dark-bordered similar to SS) Black swastika on large white disk overlapping dark borders

              SERVICE BELT (koppel) :
              Black leather

              BUCKLE (koppelschloss):
In photos appearing circular, likely brass construction with 1st pattern SA eagle, with either rotated or sunwheel style swastika.

              * This buckle could be the early SA box buckle manufactured with at least 5 different design variations.

              CROSS-STRAP:
Dark brown or black leather with nickel fittings, worn over right shoulder and connected to waistbelt.

              BREECHES:
SA dark brown in color made from corduroy or cotton-twill material. The breeches color appears to be slightly darker than shirt color.

              LEGWEAR:
Wool knee socks with grey band at top

              FOOTWEAR:
              lace-up black leather ankle boots

              AWARDS AND INSIGNIA:

              * NSDAP membership badge:
This was worn on necktie aligning with the shirt's breast pocket's upper border.

              * NSDAP armband (same as worn on M1925 uniform)

              * 1927 parteitag eagle pin and ribbon badge

This consisted of an SA style Eagle pin on a Black-White-Red rosette styled ribbon.

(Pin with ribbon was worn on left breast pocket's upper border. This badge was only worn during parteitag 1927)

              SERVICE AWARDS

With this uniform AH began wearing his Imperial Army service awards Centered on his shirt's left breast pocket:

              * Eisernes Kreuz l (EK l) (Iron Cross lst class)

AH was awarded August 4 1918 the Iron Cross, First Class

              NOTES and OBSERVATIONS:

              * The M1927 uniform was worn by AH only during 1927 Nurnberg parteitag (August 19-21)

              * There is a photo of AH wearing the M1927 uniform while holding what appears to be a service cap in his right hand. Flanking him in this photo is Julius Streicher wearing an overcoat and standing next to him is an SS Member wearing a uniform similar to AH lederhosen M1925. The cap that AH holds is lighter in color than the shirt and breeches and appears to have a soft crown.

              * The M1927 uniform was being worn by (or similar versions of it) other NSDAP/SA etc. members attending Nurnberg parteitag.

              * This style of shirt and armband was same as parteifuhrer uniform 1 M1925

              * Shirt tucked into breeches, waistbelt worn high over waist.

              * Shirt was a baggy fit because AH preferred loose-fitting clothes

              * Shirt was worn by other groups: NSDAP, SS etc.

              * Uniform duration period: circa August 1927

              Uniform changes from M1925-M1927:

              * Lack of headgear remains the same

              * Shirt remains the same, but adds EK l award to left breast pocket

              * Necktie color is changed from black to dark brown and tie length changed from mid-length to full-length, NSDAP membership badge is moved from aligning with mid-pocket to aligning upper border of breast pockets

              * Waistbelt, buckle and cross-strap are added.

              * Lederhosen replaced by SA breeches

              * Light-colored Knee socks with vertical ribbing changed to slightly darker non-ribbed knee socks with dark band at top.

              * Tasseled bavarian shoes replaced by black ankle boots

The M1927 uniform was clearly a decision to discard the civilian elements of the M1925 and adopt the SA M1927.

              UNIFORM TIMELINE:

              Clothing prior to 1925:
Bavarian jackets, civilian shirts with collar tips clipped closed beneath necktie, lederhosen with knee socks or cloth puttees, Various civilian business suits topped with fedora and overcoats are often worn over the suits.

              1925:
Early M1925 uniform adopted and worn. Likely due to intermittent bans placed on wearing various brown-shirted uniforms, AH also wore civilian business suits and overcoats for public appearances etc.

*circa Aug 1925 AH wears a Bavarian jacket, lederhosen with knee socks. He is photographed with SS uniformed members: Schaub, Schreck, Hess and Schneider.

              1926:
Civilian business suits and overcoats worn likely due to the uniforms ban.

              * During Weimar parteitag July 3 and 4 1926, AH wore a double-breasted trenchcoat over a light colored, double breasted windbreaker 1923 uniform with civilian waistbelt, breeches, white socks and bavarian shoes.

              * There is another photo dated July 4 which shows AH wearing a light colored shirt and breeches with a cross-strap. It is doubtful this photo is correctly dated. Goering is also seen in this photo wearing dark brown uniform with multi-striped armband.

              1927:
M1927 uniform worn at parteitag Nurnberg August 19-21

              1928
              M1928 uniform adopted

              * UNRESOLVED:
What is the material of dark brown SA shirt?

Whether the M1927 uniform featured a circular SA buckle or if there even was
an SA circular buckle made from 1925-1927

              * As always, your observations, conjectures and photos from your collections are welcome here.

Impressive, Rov, very impressive! You're doing quite a service for the collecting community! Now, when this is completed, the question is how to make it available to researchers on a permanent basis...a new book, perhaps?

                  AH Uniform 3

At long last we continue with our Hitler uniforms reports!

Aplogies for my absence, since recovering from illness, I'm now able to continue our voyage of discovery.

We now move onto the AH uniform era more familiar to aficionados. This uniform would later be known as his 'traditions uniform'.

In addition to our report we shall also examine:

                  * The rare photo of the SA style kepi which Adolf Hitler carried with him but did not wear because he despised how he looked when photographed wearing it!

                  * A "mystery badge " worn by AH and an SS man in early 1930's that you can help to identify !

                  * Fuhrer SA tuchmutze: AH was phographed wearing an SA kepi by his personal photographer, Heinrich Hoffman. AH disliked this photo so much that he wore no headdress with his traditions uniform at all. Although he did not wear this kepi, he was photographed carrying it on several occasions.

                  - This kepi was SA tan in color with a slightly lighter side flap which was
adorned in front by a single dark horn button. The cap's peak was of
matching tan cloth. A leather chinstap was fastened by two side buttons
and the kepi's crown was stiffened.

                  - He wore no form of service headdress until 1933, when he adopted his first
open collared Jacket and tie Reich Chancellor uniform

                      Thanks Napalm

Good idea, an AH shirt would be a great addition at this point. My guess would be it would be one of the special traditions uniform shirts which were worn after 1933 for special commemorative purposes such as RPT and Nov 9. I'd truly love to see one of these very special shirts. Hopefully someone could tell that collector about this thread.

                        Hitler SA kepi

Here is an extremely rare photo of AH wearing his SA kepi. This photo was likely taken by Hitler's personal photographer Heinrich Hoffmann sometime between 1928-29. Following AH's release from prison, and the re-establishment of the NSDAP, Hitler experimented with several 'looks' for his public appearances.

The 'kepi look' was one of several looks that he rejected.

                        https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/phot...eat=directlink

Reportedly, he disliked this photo so much that he refused to be photographed wearing any form of headdress with his uniform. Although he didn't wear it, strangely enough, he carried and held it at his side on several occasions. He maintained that practice until he donned his first political leader uniform in 1933.

This studio photo shows him wearing the early 'traditions' shirt with its dark buttons, black tie and leather cross-strap. He does not appear to be wearing his NSDAP membership pin which he will later wear for 1929 Nuremberg PT.

The kepi seemed to be an SA style with stiffened top. The body and cloth peak appeared to be darker than the side flaps. The flaps appeared to match the shirt color and two buttons secure a leather chin strap which was fastened under his chin. Centered on the flap's front was a decorative dark button.

I've seen several similar styled caps, but this front button appears unique.

Hopefully someone knowledgeable can contribute their expertise on this subject
