Awesome find, where did they come from, area wise?
Kind of a shame to clean them, but I guess it needed to be done to prevent further decay.
Fingers crossed on the number !

Has Eric been or Bingo or Der-Hase-fee not been able to assist?

A very nice find to be sure. There was a lot of activity at Nueschwanstein towards the end of the war with the hiding of art treasures. It's amazing how the gilding has held up for all those years in the ground.

                What a great find, Patrick.

Let us know how you get on please.
I hope someone will be able to help you locate the original recipient.

Jim, agree its a really exciting find. I probably would not have cleaned them though to be honest.Always a fine line between conservation and the 'story' that they showed in dug condition.
