    Blood Order Bargains

Hey guys I thought to share this story to remind all of you collectors who are looking for a Blood Order never to give up,keep your eyes and ears open and keep going !
3 Blood Orders in the past 12 months have sold for no more than 1000€, yes THREE
Firstly let me say that only one of these three ended up in my collection, but I'm not complaining,I know even that is fortunate
I won't use names or numbers but call them Order A,B,C.

Order A sold from a small part time UK dealer/collector who appeared to have either fallen out of date with his values or mis valued the order. He sold it at a small local fair. The 'dealer' bought it from a old lady who found it in the back of her sofa, brought back years before by her husband and mis-placed !

Order B was sold by a smaller German dealer who must have presumed it was a copy.Nice for a collector to gain from a dealer for a change !

Order C was sold in a Dutch coin auction with no ribbon and was a first pattern. This one is the most annoying for me as I was contacted by a collector who knew it was there and asked my opinion of the medal,I told him it was good and I would be interested in buying it from him.Obviously he did not wish to give me the auction details,of course I can understand that !. But then he did not bid over 1000€ and it sold at a few€ more !!

So there you are. Bargains can still be had ,even for the most expensive and rare items.
    Good hunting

    Hello Jon.

What are dealer prices of Blood Orders with ribbons? I know personality connections can greatly impact the price.

I haven't seen one for sale for ages.

(I have other items way up the list before buying one. Just intrested).

    Regards,
    Chris.

Chris- I sold one last week for £3000 on e-stand.
Erich -Yes both second patterns, both great condition.

The search continues ,they are out there but still bloody hard to find, let alone at a reasonable price. But with luck you can get a result once in a blue moon.

              Thanks Jon.

By the sound of it, I'm suprised you let one go!

              All the best,
              Chris.

Speaking of bargains, I attended a gun show today and I found three 2nd patterns for the 3500.00 each! I asked to see them them and playing dumb, I asked the guy if they were original. He said yes and proceeded to tell me the differences between the 1st pattern and 2nd pattern Orders. He said that all three were picked up in Europe. Well, they were all fake and done well enough to fool a lot of collectors. The dead give away on these medals were that the feathers on the Eagles tail were in a zig zag pattern and were very light weight. One of them also had an Austrian style ribbon. You don't see many originals out there these days but someone I'm sure will get stuck with one these fakes!

Very interesting! Was it one dealer with all three? Anybody we know?
Too bad you didn't have a camera handy--it would be great to post photos of the better fake BOs.

I'm sorry to say thatI didn't have a camera with me. Yes, the same dealer had all three medals priced at 3500.00 each. The dealer was one that I have no knowledge of. The same copy was posted a few years ago on GDC and the thread has been lost. I know that Jon knows of this type fake.

I don't carry a small camera to shows but it's not a bad idea. I remember seeing the zigzag tail feathers type but can't remember the rest of the details on that type.

The zig zag fake is one of the better ones out there and could fool many. Detail on the reverse is pretty good but the weight of the medal is very light. As you know ,when you hold an original you can feel the weight and quality along with the certain details that only an original has.
