    A couple of Cultural items

Probably not SS related but they're kinda connected IMO . The first is a Erbhof plaque that was put on gates of Aryan farms showing their heritage in accordance to the Erbhof law. The second piece is a cool Bread Plate that will go in my Yule corner later this year.

For sure the Erbhof plaque is deeply related to the SS since it was given out as a result of the new Erbhof law developed by leaders of the Reichsnährstand whose founder and head was nobody else than Richard Walther Darré - Reichsbauernführer, agricultural leading expert within the NSDAP and the SS and party- and SS-member since 1930, finally SS-Obergruppenführer and personal friend of Himmler since the late 20ties within the Artamanenbund.
1931: head of the new Rasseamt within the SS
          1932: elected into the Reichstag
1933: head of the department of agrarian policy of the NSDAP
appointed as Reichsbauernführer (leader of farmers within the whole Reich)
          Minister of nourishment and agriculture
promoter of the Erbhof law together with Dr. Saure and Hermann Reischle
promoter of the first Reichs harvest festival on the Bückeberg near Hameln in October
founder of the Deutsches Heimatwerk GmbH within the Reichsnährstand

Just a short version of his Blitz-career within the state, party and SS.
In fact the Reichsnährstand was nothing else than his developed farmer organisation purely run by highly promoted SS-leaders.
So the Erbhof sign is a piece of pure germanic SS-art as well since for Darré the Odalrune was THE cultural symbol of the germanic farmer.
There is much more to say and add but this as a little base.

Thanks Thorsten for showing the SS connection with the Erbhof sign, and it really is a great piece IMO. Hmmm, maybe the sign along with the bread plate will have to go into my Yule corner.

The short version is that a farm had to be Aryan/ German, and the law required that for the farm to be handed down to the oldest son he had to prove his Aryan ancestry back to 1800. I'm sure that Thorsten can add more.

Yes, Erbhof and the recreation of a powerful Bauerntum (peasants as their own class in society, in the old Reich is was not named as Klasse (class) but Stand) ought to lead to the recreation of Wehrbauern for wiping out any possible last structures of communism which turned the feeding and rich farmer into a poor slave of the communistic system.
Why else did the communists kill in the wide, wide landscape a huge unknown number of peasants who kept conservative and loyal to the Zar?
Indeed the communists knew that they needed the farmers for feeding their revolution so they brutally occupied their land and let them work on it which once belonged to them and not to the new rulers.

Darré´s Reichsnährstand was so powerful that - within the early years from 1933-36 at least - Himmler could only develope his cultural agenda within the SS with the supporting help of Darré and his bureaucracy and money.
As an example the founding of the Ahnenerbe could not have been realized if Darré would not have logged them in contract and paid the first employed scientists, secretaries and workers - means that the Reichsnährstand was a very effective and important pillar of the whole SS-structure.
Darré had a huge cultic influence towards Himmler and in my opinion founding the Deutsches Heimatwerk was one of the most interesting cultural actions within the SS.
It enabled Himmler to let his plans about creating an own elite aryan and germanic life-style become reality very quickly and fulfilled another important thing: by manufacturing these massive and representative pieces of furniture and interior design the craftmen´s and specialized families of farmers should get an important income during winter- and lifetime.
Many official and private buildings were furnished and decorated by the product range of Deutsches Heimatwerk.

Himmlers house in Gmund at the Tegernsee was the most noteworthy private building of them.

Adding to the connections of Darre is Bormann. At Berchtesgaden Bormann kept an autographed picture from Darre in his bedroom. Who else would have dared to keep a personal momento like that after Darre fell out of favor with Hitler?
