    Upfront:

All items are unmessed original pieces, nothing has been added or faked.

All items are period items - with the exception of the Sippentruhe in my opinion which might be made already before 1933 but definitely not after 1945 - it is possible that the chest is made in the 20ties or even a bit earlier within the first quarter of the 20th century because the used carved symbolism has no strong connotation towards NS/SS symbolism and as we know the NS/SS symbolism built up on traditional folkish and rural symbols used before and throughout centuries.

As I already pointed out as one example a turtle as a used symbol - obviously for the wish of a long life - is totally unknown to me in regards to period cultural pieces and known literature.

Of course there are always exceptions but I see no connection to known and used NS/SS-symbolism - and especially no connection to the Ahnenerbe.

The same has to be stated about the offered 1944 cradle which is without any doubt an untouched period piece and definitely decorated with known and used NS/SS symbols and especially reflecting a mixture of christian and neo-pagan symbolism - but what shall be the connection to the Ahnenerbe?

Is there any evidence that this cradle initially belonged to an Ahnenerbe or simply any other SS-member?

The carved family names are the key to solve that question but they have been made invisable by the offerer - why??

Both the prices and descriptions of the chest and the cradle reflect that they are offered as Ahnenerbe pieces which they are by no means.

They are german made items, yes - but connected to the Ahnenerbe?

I cannot see any evidence for that and I assume by paying 3K + shipping for the cradle and not much less for the chest any potential buyer would do good to ask for that evidence - which is just not there.

Anybody arguing the converse surely needs to back that up with more than what is visable within the description and pictures!

              Hello Thorsten,

many thanks for your very deepful reply.

This is very helpful for us, you gave us a great commentary on every aspect of those pieces.

A few stupid questions on the cradle :
              - If we are able to get the names of the parents, we can check if the father was in the SS right ?

              - As you know a bit about wood crafting, how long needs a confirmed craftman to build such a massive wood piece ?

              - What may have been the price of this item "back in the days" ? I suppose that only "rich people" could afford it ?

              See You

                - There is certainly a good chance that - by knowing the full names of the married couple and the name and birthday of their mentioned child we will find out more about the family in general and the man in particular, maybe he wasn´t even a soldier.

                - Well, I´m not a craftsman of any kind and therefore I would have to ask an expert - who really can do such an extraordinary job in today´s world! - about that but I guess for a real skillfull specialist it may still take about two-three weeks until the whole job is really done, maybe it can be realized in a shorter time frame, maybe it needs more time, can only guess here just like most of us.

                - Either rich people or the named man himself was the maker of this piece or a good friend or family member, in those days it was common that at least one specialist in wood was residing in every village since they did not get it from IKEA but ordered it from their local Tischlermeister - and could maybe even at that time pay with ham and eggs.

                  Swastika and Lebensrune Plate

Thanks Tony, Andreas for the comment. yes the Wolfsangel rune, I was just wondering if anyone had seen anything with respect to the trade/professional school it relates to.

Nice tiles above as well, rare Kärner works for sure.

Something for the thread, a nice plate I found a few weeks ago, actually it didn't look to good when acquired but after a clean, polish and wax I think its turned out really nice.

                      Wow - outstanding!

That is the most interesting mixture of NS/SS pagan believes strongly and dure brought forward and a minor rest of christianity symbolized via the dedication incorporated into one and the same period cultural piece.

Yes, interesting mix of symbols for sure.

Here's a shot of it before clean/wax/polish. Dusty and oxidised.

                              Kris,

I think they are the tiles exhibited at the Deutsche Künstler und die SS exhibition. Blanks made a Meisen and then sent for painting to Allach?

                              Listing from the catalogue below.

Steve, they bear a Meissen maker mark and were contract pieces. If they bear a Meissen maker mark they are Meissen porcelain manufacture. End of conversation.
