Thuringen
WOW - Right !! Thuringen had the red/white collar piping too!! You should check out the 1931 SA Gausturm collar tabs and collar piping combinations. Back then, the same 2 colors of the tab and it's numbers were used for the collar piping. Example: Nordmark - Green tab w/ RED numbers + Green/Red collar piping. Thuringen had: Green tabs w/Black numbers + Green/Black collar piping!! Schlesien's collar tabs have always remained the same, except that in 1931, the collar piping was White/Yellow. It'd sure be great to see one of these early SA brownshirts with the odd colors !! Anyone?

I really share your interest in Gausturm/Untergruppe period collar tabs and uniforms. Of course the colors and combinations are fantastic, but what do you think of all the odd abbreviations of the Gausturms and Untergruppen, for example Untergruppe Mittel-Schlesien-Süd = M. Sch. S.
That would be great finding a collar tab or brownshirt. But also on photo!
I do have a shirt from the Untergruppe Magdeburg-Anhalt or Halle-Merseburg. It's not the standard brownshirt, but an under-the-tunic shirt wich was worn as a brownshirt.
Including the proper yellow tabs (pre chain stitching) with green lettering, and yellow/green collar-piping.
I shall take some pictures tomorrow, and ask Lionel to post them for me.
Best,
Laurens
