I have heard theories that these badges were produced during the TR period for a competition that never took place. Makes sense! There were many reasons, back then, to cancel a scheduled meet. That would account for the quantity and condition. Hopefully, documentation will surface some day. And it could.

The Deutschlandflug 1938 took place from May 22 to May 29. There are pressphotos showing enamel badges being worn, including Korpsführer Christiansen.

If I thought I was confused before, well this clears it up....

I wasn't clear on the badge I was referring to above. I was referring mainly to the "1940 3. Internat. Luftrennen" badge. And the Bodenleitstelle Berlin badges.

Henrik is right about the 1938 Deutschlandflug pins and badges, I have seen these photos also.

Jack, no one can give you a definite answer on your enamel badges. Like I stated in my "vague" reply above... They could be authentic .. But might be kind of hard to sell because of the lack of period documentation or photo evidence.

              Interesting ..

I've never seen the first example before ..

It seems to be for an event that took place in an area of the Rhein River called the MITTELRHEIN or Middle Rhein ..

Here is a map of the MITTELRHEIN ..

              Pretty design ..

                NFSK enamels

I have never seen the first 2, (this imply's nothing) I would really like to see the backside's of these. I appreciate the help. I think I have written proof of the existance of the 1940 3. Internat. Flugrennen, and some one was going to help me. I lost his e-mail address. If you should see this message please get back to me.
                I lost my translater.

I am adding a picture of a pin, that is only seen in the bottom of a picture in a earlier post, just for reference, and is not related to the above message.
                My scanner is dusty...

Here is a photo of the badge Guy de Chateaubrun appears to be wearing in an image provided by Comifer on 2/7/10. It appears to be an advertisement or sponsor's badge, as I have two badges with different firms depicted. Here is one of these badges:

                          Very nice!

They are allot more impressive in hand, aren't they?

Beautiful enamel work .. It would be nice if the records still existed so we could look up the numbers on the reverse and put a name with the badge .. ..

                          Thanks for sharing ..

Yes it would be great to find out the history connected with the number.

I have a genuine interest in the NSFK and Gliding.

I used to fly gliders when I was a teenager.

I stumbled across my C Cat lapel badge at a fair. Bought it then started my investigation/interest.

Very happy that I now have some more pieces

Here is a photo of a 1937 Deutschland Flug participant's enameled badge. It is believed to be the only art-deco style design and the only pin back day badge numbered on the reverse. All numbers I have seen with 3 digits between 200 and 400 so possibly it is a rare badge.

Here is an example of a 1937 Zugspitzflug bearing numerals which may indicate a referee's position.
