10 years ago, I spent some time in Munich and was appalled at the lack of maintainance of the Feldherrnhalle. I was told, by my innkeeper, that it will be allowed to deteriorate until it must be dismantled, for safety reasons. There are many, in Germany, who want to see it removed as it was a place of honor during the Third Reich and is a bit of an embarrassment to the German Government.
What struck me was the very short walk to the Bavarian Giovernment offices, just around the corner and down the block. We normally think of this great and LONG march, on 9 November, 1923, when the entire procession probably only took 10 minutes before the gunshots rang out.
