    Interesting Kreis Visor on Ebay

This is an interesting one on ebay that perplexes me a little, but I really like it. It is what apparently is a Form 3 Kreis with some unusual features.

First of all, it bears the imprint of an M-34 eagle, which techically should be on a Form 2. At this stage, an M-36 should be on it, and later, the M-37.

Second, the velvet is not the light brown (hellbraun) of the Form 3 model, nor is it the chocolate brown of the Form 2. The velvet appears to be more of the Rustbrown of the Form IV model.

I believe it to be a transitional piece between the Form 2 and the Form 3. It is definately a Wehrmachtschnitt (sattelform), so imho, it cannot be considered a Form 2.

I have no idea what this tag is supposed to be for, but it appears to be Austrian, which wouldn't make sense, as the Anschluss did not occur until 1938:

This is the first I have seen of this maker-- Carl Roth . Roth later became "absorbed" by Franz Ritter (for obvious reasons.) This appears to be a non-RZM, private purchase piece:

For comparison, here is your classic Form 2. Note the M-34 eagle, chocolate-brown band, and the low profile.

Anyone have any thoughts on the ebay piece?

C'mon, Jeff, you know I only collect Form 4!

BTW, I plucked this pic of some obscure website ( ) to show what a textbook Form 3 looks like:

I like the cap. Here is my black piped Kreisleitung cap with the gold eagle and chin cord indicating the owner held the rank of Kreisleiter

Tex, yes it is, but it is on German Ebay. Do a search using the word Kreis and it will come up. The price is over $500 now.

does the insignia come with it? I have known sellers to take insignia off to get the item past the ebay police....I bought a DRK visor that way a few years back.

We need to revisit this cap after the recent developments of this maker mark being used by Janke...
