No worries, Jon. We can agree to disagree. I don't feel comfortable with the details shown in the pics. Perhaps you're in a better position by having examined it on hand.

    Cheers,

Compare some details with known examples - just one of the details I'm not comfortable with.

And those with known examples exhibit consistent detail.

              Compared to originals ...

I would tend to agree--I'm not comfortable with the loss or lack of details, however I haven't seen enough of these to know whether the blobby wreath type could be an acceptable progression. I would think not, but, for example, if these statuettes were relatively inexpensive tourist souvenirs, is it possible that we're expecting too much consistency? I'm not saying that I think the poorly done examples are original; just suggesting to keep an open mind,
                Erich

With due respect everyone’s entitled to their own opinion, and the forum is here to allow our views to be heard. There are quite a few things that don’t seem right with the details, the colour of the finish or wear etc seems off. Perhaps due to the photograph, the lighting or just not being right. If I were getting something as rare as this and paying top dollar, I would make sure I would be comfortable. Unfortunately this is not for me.

Fair enough comment, photo's can be deceiving due to differing light sources and the angles that the photographs are taken from. Often we need to see these items close up or dis-assembled. Jon Fish had this one in hand and owns an original to compare so was in a position to make the call as original. The owner has now sent me close up photo's including with the base removed and I can now also confirm that Jon and TxGauleiter were correct- it is undoubtedly a nice original and is identical in every way to other original examples. Here is a nice example of one of the Mahnmal monument postcards and another original miniature monument to compare to.....

                    Cheers,
                    Michael

A very nice post card, Michael...I don't think I've ever seen this one previously.

                      Cheers,

For those looking for an original, there is a nice example just listed on the “Third Reich Arts” site.

That is Martin M's one, formally belongs to John Pepera. I track only 16 so far. Quite rare.
