This Coburg stickpin sold yesterday for approx $160 (with commission) on Grenadiers Auctions: It is a pattern that we have not seen before/posted here. It is marked: RZM M1/52 which is the RZM for Deschler.

Yes, I also saw this but did not make a bid. It seems very crudely produced. I doubt the firm produced it.

Factually speaking, M1/52 is for Deschler and Sohne, not Deumer. Deumer is M1/120.

Thanks, Mil..I meant Deschler which many think is the producer of the Coburg badge. I edited my post.

I agree it looked crude. The pictures were not the best. If fake the manufacturers did their research by adding the RZM for Deschler.

            Hi Gary,

Thanks. I would love to know if there is documented evidence about who produced those badges or the stickpin. Second pattern badges do have RZM marks, but they are not from the Deschler firm?

              Mil,

2nd pattern badges are marked "RZM" but no factory associated number. Some speculate that it was early in the RZM system when these badges were produced and either there was a misunderstanding that the numbers were supposed to accompany the RZM mark or that the numbering system was not fully established by then. There are some of the 2nd patterns that are marked "RZM 189", but no one knows what the 189 represents.

I believe the attribution to Deschler comes from the Deschler marked prototype version that Weitze once had for sale.

                Thanks, Gary.

I wouldn't put my money on the fact that the badge might have been made by Deschler based on Weitze's comments. We'll probably won't know until historical facts surface.

Looks like crap. I wish Bruce would post decent pictures of the items he's auction off and upgrade his bidding tool.

Some think there was more than one maker of the badges.

Could be coming to a dealers site v soon, or the mini stickpins split out, let’s see....
Hope an enthusiastic and dedicated collector got the group and keeps it together. Shame it was not you, would have been nice to see it retained by a dedicated collector living in Coburg!

An attributed CB, a rare grouping indeed.
