Having owned a 1st type in the past what struck me was the pin was wholly inadequate for the badge itself.It could have ripped off easily particularly on a tough uniform.This screwback is a typical 1st type and indicates heavy usage,
thus ensuring the badge was not lost which happened to many a Blood Order recipient !

The Hermann Fobke uniform, from what I read was found with an unnumbered BO attached to it, so my guess is that some Officials were also able to get additional Blood Orders as well.
