The key word on these badges is TEXTBOOK only!

To keep adding to this thread, here's the cover of the official list of names awarded the CB. SS Researcher Ross Kebaugh located the official list in the National Archives.

I think that this badge is so rare that many can't contribute anymore to this Thread. I will and hope others with an interest post anything that they come across that's related to the "Battle of Coburg" or the badge.

I picked this wonderful example of the 2nd pattern up about ten years ago in an auction at the opening bid of $500!!! The military pieces had much competition. The political stuff went wanting for a home. Needless to say, I got very lucky.

What luck! Did they think it was a sports badge?

It was properly identified. It seems as though no one understood how rare the badge was.

Bob, you certainly were lucky on that one. The badge has ALL the gold on it with no signs of wear, what a great addition to any colleciton this one would be.

Thanks Bob for posting your fantastic CB on our growing little Thread. I wish that I could say that I only paid 500.00 for mine!

I am fortunate to have an appropriate tunic to display the badge on. This Totenkopf Thuringen administrator's tunic belonged to Sturmbannfuhrer Walter Bellwidt. As Bellwidt was promoted during the war, his black dress tunic reflects his rank of Sturmhauptfuhrer prior to transfer to 3rd SS Pamzer Division Totenkopf. When I received his file, I discovered he was a recipient of the Coburg badge.

One interesting recipient of the CB was Elenore Bauer AKA Sister Pia. She was one of three women awarded the badge and she was also a holder of Blood Order # 25.
