Interesting to know that he held the rank of General for both SA and NSKK which explains why he has an NSKK eagle insignia on his cap.

Here's a super Coburg Badge that I acquired earlier this year:

Very nice, Barry. It was sold on a German auction haus?

Has anyone got a copy of the Coburg book with its dustwrapper?

This link to the Digipress section of the Munchener Digitale Bibliothek project has digitised images of the Coburg newspapers including this one of the 16th October, (They didn't publish on Sunday 15th) with a report on Page 2 of the event, if its of interest to anyone who may not have seen it?

Forgive my rather sporadic dropping into the forum, but did "we" establish the date of first presentation of the Coburg Badge? I am not aware if anyone else has but I am proposing the 16th October 1932, when Hitler addressed the rally on that date in Coburg to a crowd of 18,500 SA and SS Men and other party organisations. The Coburger Zeitung newspaper of the 17th October reports that Hitler made a presentation "Einem jeden wurde ein Ehrenzeichen zur Erinnerung uberreicht". I suppose anyone interested will want that link too? http://digipress-beta.digitale-samml....html?zoom=1.0

Are you referring to the Schwede-Coburg book or what?

This is an immense thread and very difficult to navigate to find info. The presentation ceremony was discussed some time ago. Hitler did not present the awards, the link to the Coburger Zeitung article not withstanding. If I am not mistaken, he arrived by plane and motored to the field to address the assembled crowd. Then he left, as he this was during an election campaign. I believe there was a fine article on the event in a past Bender issue of Military Advisor.

But 1.100 EUR high bid ?? That must be almost $1.500 total.

"Has anyone got a copy of the Coburg book with its dustwrapper?"

While my personal answer to your question is: "No, sadly not," I do note that there seem to be a good number of copies of the 1939, 1941 and 1943 editions of "Kampf um Coburg" by Franz Schwede-Coburg available via the out-of-print booksellers. They range anywhere from about $170.00 up to several hundred dollars.

                          Hope this is helpful. Cheers,

                          Br. James

Another one was offered for $4,000 USD a little while ago.

Yes, I think the Military Advisor did have an article on it. Can't remember if Roger bender wrote it.
