Ran into this topic as well and very much enjoyed reading it, it gives a bit the "other side" of the Germans, very interesting to see how the nromal man looked up to the party big shots.

If you speak him again, please ask more questions and extend this topic, i'd to continue reading!

        Hello,

Facinating, Georg sounds like a real character, just an ordinary bloke living through extraordinary times.

Love to have a beer with him, great sense of humour and very honest.

        Thanks shaun,

        Mark.

Very nice thread about a SA man and his vision upon Himmler (Death by Pencil) ,as for the photo in my opinion looks exactly like Himmler but with a much better heart and soul.

If you see Georg again bring him my respect and salutations, must have been very hard to tell the story about when your friends died and things like that.

Thanks again for the nice interview Sean and Georg

          Cheers
          Thomas

Thank you everybody for the kind words.
I have nearly completed the parts I missed originally, namely the uniform and day to day work of Georgs SA Sturm, as you can imagine his old German takes some translating with the help of K, once I'm back from the Tour de France I will set about putting it onto the thread, all the best and vive le tour, Sean

One of the best threads I have seen on here, very interesting and informative. I'd agree with the person who said he seems to have a great sense of humour and would be great to have a beer with. Thanks to you both for sharing this.

The best thing Ive read on this forum so far!! Many thanks of course. I must say I fully agree with Georgs outlook on the Nazi Party Bigshots/SS and veiws of Germany's social downfall. I also got a kick out of how he would tell the "civi's" he was attacked by a fighter plane! HAHA whata great personality this man still has at such an age. I have always had a great respect for the SA, but this has touched a different nerve of my thoughts of them working as seperate sturms. Thanks again for sharing!

Great read! It's nice to know that the SA haven't become just a footnote in history and also proves that within the so called "evil-Brownshirts" there were kind men! My regards to him!

                      Very interesting read

I find it interesting he said no one wore the Sports Badge, but he has it on in his file photo. I'm guessing it was like any other military photos...if you rate it, you better wear it for the official photo!

Definately a resemblance to Himmler there

I would like to thank you for posting this story! I have read very few oral Histories from SA members and I find them particularly fascinating as a student historian of the early years of the NSDAP. I guess it is most interesting to me though because all my interest in history started with an SA Dagger

I always seem to read this every other week. It's just so unique! He is a proud man and fearless, no qualms about his stories. Yet he does have a kind soul. He fought for what he believed is right, and wasn't brainwashed into any ideology. It is people like George that inspire me. He didn't have to fight in any war to be brave, as he was a mechanic. He fought for what he believed and looks upon his times with pride. I understand how he must of felt knowing that the Party would betray them and the crimes in the future would wreak havoc upon Germany's honor. Though many of us will never know what he went through, I salute this man and his life. Truly a great and honorable warrior and overall, man.

                          Blue Skies of Thunderbolts,
                          Lev

Great thread! I would love to see a picture of him today. Just a normal guy caught up in a tragic war.

What a great Man and slice of history!! Thanks for both of your efforts. Did you ever get the chance to ask him about weather he had a SA dagger and about the grinding off of the Rohm dedicated ones? What importance did he place on these daggers?? Thanks for any info you have! Kevin.
