    I thought this plaque would look good mounted.

      That looks great! That was probably the way it was intended, mounted on a wooden plaque. The frame sets it off!

        Thought I'd bring this back to the top and see if anyone has any new DDAC items to post.

          Lovely DDAC updates.

          what do the two fingers pointed upwards on the plaque mean?

            The two fingers symbolize the "vow of fidelity". The German word "Treue" on the plaque means fidelity.

            Saar = Todays German state "Saarland"
            Treue = Fidelity
            Fahrt = Drive

            The state "Saarland" was separated from Germany after WW1 in 1920 as a result of the treaty of Versailles. After a referendum in the year 1935 the "Saarland" was integrated again into Germany. Since the plaque is dated with 1934, I assume it was a drive of the NSKK and the DDAC to attest their sympathy and fidelity to the Saarland, which should help to create a positive mood in the German population to vote for the integration in the referendum.

                  DDAC Questions

                  1934 DDAC Honor Stickpin

                  What were the qualifications for wearing the 1934 honor pin vs the ordinary member pin?

                  Do post 1934 honor pins exist?

                    DDAC honor pin

                    According to J. R. Cone's book: "One People, One Reich" the DDAC Honor Pin was given to those's members that took part in the various road meets throughout Germany. All members were given the standard stick pin upon joining the DDAC. Cone's example in his book shows one dated 1938. The one I have in my collection is dated 1934. I've looked for ones of different dates.... but no luck. Maybe 1934 was a popular year for DDAC road events. Nice NSKK/DDAC award.

                    Regards, Mike

                          Found that one some weeks ago at a local fleamarket - have not seen another one, is this rare?

                            Gran,
                            I consider all DDAC items scarce. I don't see many road maps or log books out there. Not many people owned cars in Germany during the 1930"s.

                              Here's a nice DDAC member's stick pin by Berg & Nolte. I've been looking for one like this for awhile. It measures 16mm X 19mm. I've also been looking for the smaller version(10mm X14mm.)

                              Best Regards, Mike
