what do the two fingers pointed upwards on the plaque mean?
Saar = Todays German state "Saarland"
Treue = Fidelity
Fahrt = Drive
The state "Saarland" was separated from Germany after WW1 in 1920 as a result of the treaty of Versailles. After a referendum in the year 1935 the "Saarland" was integrated again into Germany. Since the plaque is dated with 1934, I assume it was a drive of the NSKK and the DDAC to attest their sympathy and fidelity to the Saarland, which should help to create a positive mood in the German population to vote for the integration in the referendum.Last edited by ivbaust; 08-10-2009, 04:05 PM.

DDAC honor pin
According to J. R. Cone's book: "One People, One Reich" the DDAC Honor Pin was given to those's members that took part in the various road meets throughout Germany. All members were given the standard stick pin upon joining the DDAC. Cone's example in his book shows one dated 1938. The one I have in my collection is dated 1934. I've looked for ones of different dates.... but no luck. Maybe 1934 was a popular year for DDAC road events. Nice NSKK/DDAC award.
Regards, Mike
