Carlo, we all rely on the internet so much, I forget to go back and look at the books as well.
I believe the Moran hat is a Form 3 period "upgraded" to a form 4 with the new insignia, due to the shape and the leather visor, and the fact that the wreath extends above the piping. It definately is a golden-yellow, however.

And in looking at the Moran hat again, it appears to have had the first style wreath at one time.

Reichslevel And Level 4 Ordensburg. Likely, The Piping Of Ordensburg Was Lightened With The 1939 4th Pattern Insignia To Make A Definitive Difference Between The Seperate Organizations Piping.

As Requested By Stonemint, The Three Examples I Have Of N P E A Visor Caps. Only Recently, With The Aid Of Noted 3rd Reich Scholar Wilhelm Saris, Have I Been Able To Definitively Identify The Differences. They Wee Close To My Original Thoughts. On The Left Is A Lower Rank Leader Cap With Soft Leather Visor Circa 1936/37. The Middle Cap Is The 1938 Pattern, Which Eliminated The Soft Leather Visor. The Cap On The Rigtht Was Worn By A Senior N P E A Leader. Note The Darker Brown Hat Band And Top. This Cap Was Likely Also Worn By Senior Officials Of The Reichschule In The Netherlands, Possibly With S S Eagle.

Finally, To Complete And Further Confuse The Situation, A Comparison Of The Early Ordensburg Cap Piping With The Reichslager Official Bergmutze Piping. Identical. Therefore, One Must Conclude That This Piping Was Not Only Used On The Visor Caps Of Ordensburg Officials And Junker But Also Officials Of The Reichslager At Bad Tolz, Which Trained Political Leader Candidates Both Organizations Were The Top Level Reichs Level Training Facilities For The Future Leaders. A Similarity In Function Evidently Also Called For Wear Of The Same Piping.

Bob, thanks for posting your hats--this is what learning and sharing is all about. The great thing about this thread is not only have we established a consensus on the lemon-yellows, but every shade of PL brown is represented all in one place--Ordensburgen Form 3, Ordens Form 4, Osteinsatz, standard NSDAP, and NPEA. Shade definately had meaning during the TR.
