    I noticed that the band on the visor is velvet. Not out of the realm of possibility, but not regulation either....

      This just popped up on a dealer site, and is a great study on a Diplo greatcoat, in this case for an ambassador. This coat was once the property of the Ambassador to Sweden, Prinz zu Wied (he was replaced by Hans Thomsen in 1943). He was a member of the House of Wied, a prominent aristocratic family from Rheinland-Pfalz:
