    Water protection police cap eagle?

Is that what I got for my wife? I believe it is.
I put a dime with it because in the photos it was looking like toned silver.. Which it is not. Certainly gold with a burnished swas.

I know that everything gold is called waterways protection police by dealers, but statistically it has a higher chance of having been intended for use by the traffic police. WSP was mostly officer pay grades, and liked bullion insignia like the navy from which many came. The traffic police on the other hand were 99% NCO grade and would have worn insignia like this.

      In any case nice insignia.

Gendarmerie-Bereitschaften (Gendarmerie barracked units) used gold colored eagles on their visor caps as well in 1936-1937.

Bill, I agree with you, the most likely and highest probability of use was the traffic police, next of course is water police.

Marco, don't you think those Eagles would have been gold colored 1st models with laurel leaf wreaths? After all, the Gend Motor Bereitschaften were the FJK with the gold police Eagles.

I second that! How about some source/period evidence in support?

I guess I lost track of it too. Searching I find George's (Schupo) reference to the Emsland guards in a buckle thread a few years back. But I couldn't find another conntributor. George dated the regulation to June 1942. I also found where I mentioned that the gold buckle could theoretically be worn for a while by the new Mot. Gend. Bereitschaft before their conversion to regular Mot. Genarmerie colors.
