    Police Eagle Inquiry

    Hello,

Those of you that know me know that I am basically an "eagle weenie" with NCO sleeve eagles my primary interest.

Anyway, I was going through my "Impossible to find Eagles to Complete the Flock" list and started to think.

Has ANYONE ever seen a GemPo or FuSchuPo eagle on mottled cotton? In my time collecting I never recall seeing any carmine eagle on a mottled backing, even though they are theoretically possible.

Now GemPo uniforms were bought and issued by small towns so a "summer" tunic was most probably an "optional" private purchase item, and may have been rather rare, but the FSP was fairly large and did indeed work "in the field" so I would expect that branch to have had summer tunics.

If anyone has an example, or can recall ever seeing one I would be most interested in knowing.

PS: I am not referring to the "female" eagle on cotton used on the coveralls as shown here, but the orange/green mottled material.

    Regards,
    William Unland

The regulations of 1936 authorized the mottled tunic for use by all police branches, including the WSP. Here are my Gend, SchuPo, and WSP examples, but again I have never run across any "carmine" eagles on this backing:

Appears well made, doesnt have the border, nor the different black swas from main color... but id say most likely an original, what do the police collectors think? I like it personally, but im no eagle weenie.

Hi, I don't see a photo. Are you referencing the carmine eagle I show above? If so YES it is original but not the type I'm looking for. Looking for that color eagle on "mottled" cotton.

Nope, never seen these two on mottled in any form before. One would think a GemPo example would be out there, although we see so few GemPo on regular wool, making the odds very unlikely.
Interested in the Gendarmerie - Schutzpolizei - Gemeinden - Feuerschutzpolizei - Wasserschutzpolizei - Etc. Looking For Anything Polizei Related!

            Hello,

I would like to know the size of this female eagle as shown above, I need one for my Feuerwehrhelferin.

Are there reproductions, are they easy to detect?

            Thank you in advance,
            Wim.

              Dear Wim,

The female coverall eagle was the same size as a standard man's sleeve eagle. It is only distinguished by the cotton backing material and the all carmine, ie; no black swastika and eye, construction.
