    wasserschutzpolizei buckle with tab

I have been collecting Third Reich pistols for some time and after talking to my son decided it was time to expand the collection. I recently picked up this buckle and have decided to build another collection around it. This is a test for me as I try to figure out how to load photos, sorry if it takes me a while,John

I picked this buckle up at auction to go with my m35 police combat helmet. This was listed as a 1936 pattern, and my helmet is a 1936. Not sure if the date is right for the buckle, but I think it goes well.

        John,

Very nice buckle! I started the same way. For years I collected WWI-WWII pistols. Then the periphery grew to holsters for said pistol. Then belts and buckles. Now I collect almost exclusively police pistols and police/customs uniforms, headgear, and accoutrements. Expensive as the collecting periphery grew, but fun, interesting, and somehow satisfying to see it completed. Good luck in your hunt!

        Best Regards,

        Kevin

I just posted these questions also in the police buckle thread on the Buckle Forum part of the WAF.

          http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=319092

Great thread and very educational! Thanks everyone for posting.

Just went through this thread for a second time and I have some questions which I hope someone will answer.

          1. Can one assume that any maker produced buckles for all these three police branches: Feuer, Wasser and other Polizei? Or are there some that just produced f.e. Wasserpolizei buckles?
          2. I noticed that that there are makers (f.e. J.F.S., C.T.D. and OCL) which marked their buckles with their logo sometimes on the left hand side of the reverse and sometimes inside the reverse of the Swastika. Can this variation of logo location be observed among other makers as well? If so, which ones?
          3. Are these buckles maker specific enough on the obverse that one could determine the maker by just looking at the obverse or is the obverse too generic for all specific makers to do so?
          4. Same question as the previous one (3) but now for the reverse (obviously without looking at the maker logo)?
          5. Are there any maker marked Pol buckles that have been fairly well faked and on the market in greater numbers? If so, with which maker marked ones do you need to be extra carefull not to end up with a fake?
          6. When were steel buckles introduced and are these found with tabs as well?
          7. Does one encounter steel buckles from all the same makers of aluminium buckles or were these steel buckles limited to specific makers or even different ones from those that produced alu buckles?

          Thanks guys!

          Cheers, Tom
