Hi Adrian,
I don’t believe that there ever was an official postcard (by Heinrich Hoffmann) to congratulate the new recipient of this award. This color card is from a period private postcard Verlag. Color cards from the era were more expensive to produce, and thus cost more in the local postcard shops. In my humble opinion that’s why there are not too many of this issue out there. It was probably a limited release, local printing without wide distribution. At first, I looked at it as representing the Gold version, but it could very well represent the Bronze. It will be hard to ever know for sure?
It is a beautiful card, and rather rare. It set me back about $700 after one tacks on the 20% auction commission and a Euro costing about $1.55 at the time. Not cheap, but I’m addicted to nice color cards!
Best regards,
John

Question Concerning Document
Hello Everyone. I'm fairly new to collecting, and I had a question concerning the document(s) that accompanied the Mother Cross. While I've seen plenty of Mother Crosses in person and on the internet, I've yet to see an actual certificate. Why are these so much harder to locate than the actual medals, and can anyone point me in the right direction for purchasing one (certificate)? Thanks much!Last edited by SGT Lintner; 02-06-2009, 05:24 AM.

Here is a press photo in my collection showing the mothers cross.
The caption reads:
9744/ Awarded for childbearing mothers on 1 October.
In these hard days, we have by no means forgotten the rewarding of our childbearing mothers. On 1 October, the Cross of the German Mother was bestowed on these mothers by the Führer.
