    Police Panzer Wrappers

Over on the Wehrmacht Uniforms Forum there is a very lifeless discussion of two Police Panzer wrapper tunics. Perhaps you can help those of us who are weak on this subject.

    Thank you,

      Huntzman,

You are a naughty, naughty man not to say what you really think and bait us with these eagles.

OK, I'll say it... fake Polizei Panzer and Assault Gunner wraps with fantasy eagles. These fantasy First Polizei Panzer Batallion Zagreb sleeve eagles have been floating around for years but I particularly like the way this one is embroidered in Panzer Pink. This pink color embroidery on green is a nice touch! This is particulary interesting since it is not on a black Panzer jacket at all but on a supposed green Assault Gunner wrap. The collar tabs on this green wrapper are also amazing fantasy constructions.

The green police eagle with the white eye and swastika on black has been discussed before as I recall. It is, of course, a fake copy of the poorly done British publication that had color drawings of this eagle color combination on a black uniform. Both eagles nicely machine zig-zag sewn onto the wrappers, which tells you something about the jackets.

What else is there to say but that a fool and his money are soon parted?

Yikes these sort of things scare me, mostly due to lack of familiarity, but this can certainly scare a person from collecting!

Guess the first thing that popped into my mind is this related thread linked below about other alleged police panzer wraps offered by this seller a while back that disappeared after the negative comments. Otherwise this seller appears to have some amazing inventory.

That Pol Pz Btl Zagreb patch appeared years ago. The creative souls making it apparently did not realize that in German, the city was named Agram, not Zagreb.

I apologize for my silence, even though my initial reaction was to LMAO after viewing them, I am only a sophomore at Eagle Weenie U. I decided to let my esteemed colleagues speak on these as you guys are a lot more well versed on the smaller details which ID these pieces as fakes. Such as JoeW pointed out with the name.

I know there are a lot of people that would just chime in and say "BAD".... but the nice thing about this group is they tell you WHY it is bad.

            JoeW

Agram ............. That is the epitome of what I was saying above. How the heck do you compete with that type of knowledge ?

Thankfully, you guys are on the good side. I'm sure after Bill U. saw those pics he began to drink copious amounts of Sake to drown the offending images from his mind and will chime in later.

These exotic police wraps seem to be out in abundance again, but they are not a recent phenomon. If memory holds, they began to appear at shows in the 1987-1988 time frame where I recall seeing them in the $1200-$2000 range. I recall seeing one hanging on a wall at a dealers table at one of the old Atlanta, GA shows in either 1987-1988 that was promoted by collector/dealer of the past T.Goodwin. Then these wraps began to appear again in larger quantities in the mid to late 1990's. One of the benefits of saving the old auction catalogs from places like AAG, R. Steffan, and Manions, is that although not all of the items were worthy of our collections, they do serve as a reference for items when they surface again years later. In fact, I will check my records but I believe this wrap or one very similar to it was auctioned my manions in the late 1990's advertised as condition "I" with a opening bid of about a grand. They also had one of these with the factory tag sewn onto the sleeve and again if memory holds, It was described as a "ss police panzer" wrap. The collar tabs on that wrap were green but I do not recall about the arm eagle. I will see if I can find these wraps in these old auctions and post pics.

Unrelated perhaps but whatever happened to Tim (I think) Goodwin?

I am curious, can anyone post images of these fake sleeve eagles that you are talking about? I would like to see a side by side comparison. I don't know squat about police eagles and since they were available several years ago when they supposedly came out I would think someone would have a photo to post as a comparison. Were these available via catalog? like the pakistani companies that are spreading their wares around the world.

                    Thanks,

                    Greg

                        Greg,

Check out this massive thread posted by Bill Unland. I learned more from that thread than I have in 40 years of looking at police eagles.

I would implore the Moderators to pin this thread on the top of the forum, biot new members as well us doddering old collectors.

The second picture from post #2 appears to not be loading, for me anyway, so I'll post it again here.

I am reminded of my teenage kids. As much as you want to help, as much good advice as you try to give, ultimately they will do what they want.

If the buyer is happy, then that's all that matters. Now, when the time comes to sell it and find a buyer, he might not retain the same enthusiasm.

At the end of the day, all we can do is share our knowledge and offer our "opinions." Clearly the buyer did not agree.

I think what bothers me is when other forum members chime in and criticize other members for offering their opinion. You might not agree, and that's your prerogative. But when you begin using the word "experts" as a slur, I think you defeat the purpose of this forum.

Then when the "experts" will decide to say the heck with you, learn on your own at your own expense. That's when the jackals will descend from the cliffs and it will not be pretty.
