Scary and no less did you see the greatcoat w/sleeve eagle added? Seems to be another epidemic of greatcoats with sleeve eagles wrongly added going around.

You are not right - my daughter's (commercial) sewing machine can do it!!!
(Of course if is no lining in sleeves)...

I was of course assuming the sleeve was lined.

To be honest I don't see how it could be machine sewn even if no lining. Even on an extended arm machine the tunic must be "turned" 360 degrees to have an uninterrupted stitch and the arm itself interferes with turning an assembled sleeve on a coat. The only way I know to sew a circle is on a flat piece of cloth.

Not picking a nit here, as the saying goes. I would be interested to know if indeed this is possible. The only mechanical system I can imagine is one where the sewing head itself turns. I guess this is mechanically possible, but I have never seen such a sewing head.

It is possible, it is done as you describe by being turned 360 degrees. Cloth is soft and it gives. The entire piece is rotated around the needle arm...thats why there is a hole in the center of most old sewing machines so you can pass whatever is being worked on through the middle as it rotates.

I had a friend that was a movie costumer and I saw him do some crazy stuff when putting patches on sleeves. He mainly did military costuming, I supplied him with flight gear and jet helmets, etc.

I purchased and photographed this in the early 80s (it looks grey, but police green color didn't come through in the color film processing) from Mohawk along with a large photo of the supposed owner. Tunic insignia is a simple green eagle. Odd collar tabs and removable shoulder boards. Not an insignificant price back then. Probably 2 or maybe 3 times the price of a M36 tunic. I will take better photos including the interior and markings. An SS clothing depot in Posen. 1944 dated. Button cuffs, partial lining, belt loop attachments. Plastic buttons. It was neat at the time. But I have never been able to find a photo of one in wear. I talked with Regenburg about it when he was writing his book. Tried to theorize when or if such a piece would have been used.

Very interesting, I look forward to more photos. I have heard of a photo of a Police stug in wear and I've been trying to track it down. No luck so far.
