Hi Frank, the two all brown pairs to the left are Unterwactmeister & Rottwachtmeister ranks worn by polizei for multiple branches. However, at a later on the TN did changed rank insignia to look like the OrPo and they did look like the pair on the right with black backing. Is the reverse black wool? Problem with these is that RAD used a very similar rank but with a velvet backing. That's a basic overview and this topic can become even more convoluted. I'll try and track down a past thread on this RAD vs. TN and also look for my TN handbuch that had further rank information.

Not much response to this on the HEER thread, looks to be a TeNo combat tunic with HEER insignia added either period or post war. I just won it in an auction, these are the only pictures so far. Will take more when I receive it. Thank you all, Dave.

And still no comments on which I thought to be a really scarce tunic!

Hi STUG III, Yes, the uniform is definitely a scarce tunic for sure. I'm not a uniform / tunic authority, but I can fill you in regarding the TeNo / TN stamping & use.

Previously posted on this TeNo thread there are instances of HEER greenish uniforms internally stamped and used by the TeNo.The protocol was that TeNo men serving inside the boundaries of Germany (& initially Poland) wore the standard dark / Navy Blue (Dunkelblau) uniforms of the TeNo. Initially, the TeNo men serviving elsewhere wore the uniform to the service to which they were attached - lots of photo evidence of TeNo men in various Luft and Heer uniforms, but with TeNo collar tabs & shoulder boards.

As time progressed TeNo men were drafted into the Heer both individually & as units. In these later war instances the TeNo men wore the insignia of the entity in which they served, as in the case of your tunic. A special TeNo sleeve patch was introduced about 1943 to denote prior TeNo membership, but photos are rare. Eric Hampe wrote a post war book "The Unknown Army" which discusses and outlines this very clearly. Also, Hugh Taylor discussed this fact in the lengthy TeNo chapter of his latest "German Police." (Well worth reading ...)

So, in my opinion your nice TeNo stamped tunic represents either:
                      1) A reissued tunic of a TeNo designated man, to be then used in the HEER, or
                      2) The tunic of a TeNo man who served in the HEER.

A quite nice and rare find ..... Enjoy !

                        Thank you Dave,
I've removed the insignia, the thread that was used, was polyester, and then I took some more pictures. I found this packet inside the bottom pocket along with 3 TeNo buttons. I want to restore it to some degree. I do need more buttons, eagle, cuff title, tabs, and of course boards. I removed the tabs and chevron, you can see were the sleeve eagle was attached and the imprint of the square tabs. There are internal belt supports as well. If someone can let me know of items needed can be found please let me know. This will be a 'work in progress' so time is not an issue. Here some more photos. Thank you again!
