Good work Larry - the uniform looks very authetic.

Alex - good one as well.

Beautiful work, done that myself with my own paint program to a WWI portrait of LvR.

My only issue is that there's more eye colors than blue and hair colors than blonde, ya know.

Sometimes, men with dark brown hair like Hermann Graf can show up as a blondish color due to flash artifact, etc.

...and he has grey-green eyes, in case anyone is going to attempt him.

OK a few without blue eyes and blonde hair

Couldn't resist the challenge. Hermann Graf, based on a real but very small photo, no blonde hair though!! Colourised tonight

Very realistic! I would not even thought of this as colorized photo. As for me doing blue-eyed blondes - I really like the Aryan look

Hi Askold, thanks, it is a genuine B/W photo I colourised, I admit that I had a little bit to go on as the B/W image is one of the same (But very small) original colour image. so it was a case of looking at the original colours and replicating them on the larger B/W one, thats why it took little time to do.

              regards

 that is pretty close to the original, Alex! I find that that odd grey-green eye colour was a pretty common color, in different saturations - Hans-Joachim Marseille in certain colour photos has it, Graf has it, and I think Priller has it - the only colour I have of him is a bit hard to tell. You want an odd eye color? Oesau. Now THAT's an odd eye color - I don't think I've ever seen a tawny eye color before.

Let me see if I can find my LvR I did a while back..

http://theonlyredbaroness.deviantart...othar-35244310 - hope that shows up, if not, I can always get you a better link; the original is from a set I was given by a friend from his personal collection.

Here's a color reference for Oesau; I might get back into coloring some of the Sepia tones I have from a personal collection of royalty-free images I have of him - there's a beautiful one of his wedding day I might do for fun.

Hi Thanks for posting those nice images. I must admit I've not studied eye colour in details as unfortunately original period photo's can sometimes be misleading as photo images fade or change hue due to either age or bad storage. I will however try to pay more attention in the future.

                  regards

I really like Askold's pic #546. Nice work.

Some really nice work on the thread guys. Haven't done one for a while myself so here's another HJ chap I coloured this afternoon:

For some reason the picture is slightly blurred on here. Looks sharper on my pc. Oh well.

Great work Garry - the uniform coloring is fantastic, the only thing I would touch up are the eyes - they seem unnaturally green, but other then that, excellent work!

Alex - can't compete with you, the two Polizei are simply stunning!

Hi Gary I completely agree with Askold, fantastic colours, on my screen eye colour doesn't look to bad though, maybe it's my momitor.

Askold thanks, I quite enjoyed doing that one.

Thanks guys. Yes, I agree on the eyes. I think he very probably had blue/grey eyes in real-life and I did initially leave them black and white which looked good but when you have 'Photoshop power' at your fingertips it's too easy to go a step too far sometimes
