I add a picture, most likely taken in Norway
Its kind of weird, but from the left in the back row of the crosses its first a norwegian(by name), then a british soldier(by name, Mcl...), then a german(by name), then a englishman(by name or rank, Sergant ...). Front row from left a german(by name), then a unknown german soldier.
I find it strange that they have buried to british soldiers under the swastika.
Was that a common practise ?

      Humberto, Lassiter, & Todd,

You guys may already have this info but I'm posting it for the benefit of all. Knowing where a grave is I believe enhances our ability to put the location, ferocity, and sacrifice of a given battle into context. I thoroughly enjoy doing research and about 15 minutes on the German War Graves Commission's (WGC) web-site yielded the following info. I see the expenditure of effort as a small tribute to their memory.

      Enjoy, and remember them

      Pic #3 Humberto:
Pioniers fell at Trossy, France. Josef Frey, Karl Denk, Roman Schierer, Albrecht Zand, and Karl Fux are all buried at the military cemetery at Fort-de-Malmaison, France in Block 5, Row 17, Graves 755, 756, 757, 758, & 759 respectively. Reidl & Schlister are not listed on the WGC site??

      Pic #27 Lassiter
OL Werner Eckardt. Died at the Hauptverbandplatz d. Sanko 26 Russia. He must have been wounded pretty bad as German medical field manuals list the functions of a Hauptverbandplatz as: tracheotomy; closure of open chest wounds; aspiration of the pericardium in cardiac tamponade; emergency amputations; final arrest of hemorrhage; administration of blood and blood substitutes; surgery on the non-transportables; and suprapubic cystostomy.

      Pic #34 Todd
Feldwebel Vogler. They list his Todesdatum/ort as 25 Jul 41 at Smolensk.

      Pic #36 SJP
SS Untschf Gerhard Meding - Todesort is Teterewino, Russia

      Pic #100 Torben
Place of death and cemetery for these men is at Slusk, near Minsk, Belarus

      Pic #109 Lassiter
Gerhard Albert Hundt gefallen at Ssambek, Taganrog area, Russia
      .
      Hope this helps!

              Humberto,

Glad you found the info useful. I am trying to dig a bit deeper into where your pic was taken. I've got a suspicion what the river is that the bridge spans, but i don't want to speak prematurely. Give me a few days & I'll pin it all down.

              Jon,

I could not find a single guy you listed on the WGC's site . Could you maybe send me a better pic of one or two of the graves?

To those who've expressed their appreciation a very sincere You're Welcome!! As I said I enjoy doing the research.

Torben, if you could tell me the name on your SS grave marker and at least one of the names on your pic with the two Gebirgsjager I can possibly find the general location.

Larrister, same if you could post the name on the marker on the far left in pic #128.

                        Thanks!!

                        Bob

Sorry but the photo is slightly out of focus and I cannot read the wording.

                            Cheers,

Looks like a mass grave at other end.

While my father was serving with 1st Inf. Div. during the battle of Aachen, he came across a photo shop where he threw a handful of exposed rolls of film in his pack. He was going to have them developed after he got home, but unfortunately, he was seriously wounded in the Huertgen Forest shortly after. The only roll that arrived home from his pack was completely of a military nature and none had local scenery of which he was hoping.

Here are four developed photos that were on the single surviving roll from his pack which caught up with him at Fitzsimmons Gen. Hospital.

The soldier's in the first three photos all appear to be Luftwaffe. Fourth photo shows what appears to be U.S. GI's burying dead in mattress covers. Because the soldier on the right rear has what appears to be a PP holster on his belt and leather boots, I imagine these were U.S. POW's?
