        Hello All,
I think this dates to before the russian campaign.
A pretty shallow grave, which would indicate a chance of reburial
        in an organised cemetary.
Also note the purpose made flower holder, placed against the Kia
        soldiers right arm pit.

        Cheers,
        John.

translation for this is would be:

"The heroes of Flusbach (place-name) in remembrance.

2nd Company (Kw Tp) Motorized Troops 605"

            regards,

Thanks DJ for the translation! Looks like you may have helped ID the name of the unit from an album I recently purchased. Thanks! Mike

Does anyone know if any formal German graves are still in Russia?

I know that there are thousands of unmarked graves but was wondering if any of the soldier made birch tree type graves can be found???

I know that as the Russians re-captured there own territory they destroyed many of the marked graves but maybe someone knows of some that escaped the bulldozer...........

                Respectfully,
                Mike
