I don't think it is him. He has the vulpine features of Rudolf Schmidt but it may not ber him either. I think I see 2 pips on his shoulder. If so, it's a full General.

        Maybe :
        http://www.das-ritterkreuz.de/index_...det&wert1=6882

A way to explore : The RKT is shown wearing small crossed swords on his ribbon buttonhole. This is obviously a WWI award and a rather high one. As I am not a specialist of Imperial awards, I would suggest to ask to our colleagues from the Imperial section what is this award. This might narrow the search.
Tell us if the guy wears what is seemingly a DKiG on the right part of his breast.

        Regards
        Denis
So what are you thinking about Weidling ? (see the link I have provided above)

Anyway, I think that the small device seen on his ribbon might be the Ritterkreuz des Königlichen Preuss. Hauseordens von Hohenzollern mit Schwertern. For illustration purposes, see the URL below showing Günther Blumentritt and Walter Heitz wearing this award :
        http://www.geocities.com/%7Eorion47/..._GUENTHER.html

        http://www.geocities.com/%7Eorion47/...TZ_WALTER.html

If this is proven that the small device is this Hohenzolern award, this may narrow the scope of the field (at least I hope so)

        Regards

I think he looks a lot like Harry Hoppe.

I got this photo at the Union show today.. Bells went off because he looked like the Ritterkreuztraeger we were trying to identify... What do you think? Older pic of same guy?

              Thanks guys
Sorry for the late reply, Denis i think you have hit the mark with the Hohenzolern award so hopefully this will help narrow the field but unfortunately i know absolutely nothing about this award and i shall have to do some research. And silvercat, the man you showed looks very similar just that my man even at that stage would have the 1914 EK1 but he still looks rather similar.

              Revised list of awards:
              .1914 EKII
              .1914 EKI
.Ritterkreuz des Königlichen Preuss. Hauseordens von Hohenzollern mit Schwertern. (dont know if just anything about this one )
.Knights Cross of the iron cross
              .Wound badge in black
              .DKiG or DKiS
              .Ost medal

Thanks again for all your help.

              Kindest Regards
              Jason

                  Jason,
I think so too. Hoppe wears the Hohenzollern and East Medal ribbon in exactly the same way. And the award dates would fit very well: KC 12/09/41, DKIG 16/05/42, but Oakleaves in 1944 only. Also, just promoted to Generalmajor: 1/12/42 (and I'm not sure I see full general pips on your photo).

                  Regards
                  Chris

                    Hello

I think Chris is right. This is Harry Hoppe.
Glad we reach to identify this picture.
                    Regards

                      Hello All
Thank you so much everyone for your help, on my own i seriously doubt i would have figured this one out i am pretty certain that this is our man as was mentioned the dates fit very well and look at his hair style and now we also know at the time of this photo he was commander of the 126th infantry division on the Eastern front so these must be the men he is sitting down to christmas dinner with. If you like when i get association membership i shall post the whole pic for you all to see.
Thanks again for your amazing help.

                      Kindest Regards
                      Jason
