Chris, that is a strange pic. Wonder if it was a "fun " picture. He was obviously very fond of his political affiliation. J

I have seen that 02 rig before in some period pics about high altitude gliders. Could explain the mix mash of awards

Iv'e always wondered what Heydrich performed to earn his EK and always just assumed that he had only qualified as a pilot until recently watching a documentary.
He flew over a 100 operational missions during the Norway campaign in an ME 110 and was shot down behind enemy lines in Russia flying an ME 109, returned via escape and evasion.

              Hello All,

This one is from a photo album of the soldier's "time in service." What is especially interesting is that the album documents his time from the HJ, through two units ("30" and "133" chainstiched onto his shoulder boards) and then to this photo; with no evidence of his having time in the Luftwaffe. Yet, he clearly has a LW GAB, while one of his buddies as an IAB...

              Enjoy,

              Eric

                    Thanks, Tom.

If he was, there is no evidence in his photo album (~182 photos from HJ through that picture).

The Luft flak badge is a strange partner with the minesweeper ! Most Luft guys awarded Navy badges were crews from Recon. groups. Tom

I just received one of those ebay pics in the mail yesterday and posted it on my Pinned...New photo pickup's thread.

PL w/ Afrika cuff--would be interesting to know if he was combat vet, or (like Walter Rauff), just received it for being "in country":

Rauff is the only SS member I can think of that wore the Afrika title:
