I love these pics. Really interesting to see how soldiers was moved to one branch to another by looking at the awards they have on their uniforms.

I'm not sure about the heer and luftwaffe, but I have seen many pictures of km soldiers that is wearing 2 and even 3 badges of the same branch at the same time. Not sure if that is what you refering to byterock when you say that the regs only said 1 badge from each branch. Maybe they tolerated more regarding the km than the heer and luuftwaffe.

I don't own any pictures of km soldiers with 3 badges, but I do have this with 2 badges. I'm sorry that this doesn't show a soldier with different badges from different branches. Hope I don't mess up the thread, but I wanted to show that km soldiers wore more badges from the same branch on their uniforms.

    regards,
    André

Ive posted this one before....but you might like it Jacques if you didn't see it.

Here is a younger man (who didn't serve in ww1), but wears a ww1 EK2 and flipped Sudetenland medal. Anyway, for some of these posted....ust keep in mind that they may have transferred service throughout the war. Especially LW to Heer

                    Hi,

I posted this photo over at the "Police & Civil Organizations" thread and it was suggested that I post it here.

A young member of Deutsche Reichsbahn (RBD Hamburg) with combat awards.

                    Cheers,
                    Larry

This must be more unusual surely?

I understand some combat troops may have been injured and 'demobbed' and then joined another organisation such as the RBD man above.

But, I was under the impression that naval troops were transfereed on a large sacle into infantry units. A sailor with a tank destruction badge - I'd like to know how that happened.

Unless it's photo shopped of course ....

                                Jacques, great pics.

Here is another odd one I stumbled across--he is wearing both the GPB and the HJ Honor Pin:
