It's good to see even you can make a mistake. This is very difficult as these guys faces changed so much over the course of the war. Crashes in planes, shell fragment scars, exhaustion, it's not easy.

          Gentlemen,

Any ideas on who this is? And what the autograph says?

                Hallo Mike,

It is a fighterpilot Heinrich Höfemeier. A super photo.

I Agree! Pretty nice picture! Is that his autograph? If so, a truly rare signature, as Höfemeier was shot down and killed by Russian flak on August 7th, 1943.

                  Congratulation.

                  Douglas.

                    Herbert and Douglas,

Thanks for identifying this for me --- yes, it is his signature on the photo.

This came from the George Petersen collection. George had many wartime-signed photos of Luftwaffe pilots in his collection at one time. This is the only one I bought I could not identify. This is much appreciated. I will run some others that I have as well on this thread.

                    My best,

                    Mike

Thanks again for the help on identifying another unknown. Bill

                      Mike,

Super photo!! Congrats on finding out who the pilot is and I've said this before...it's nice to place a face with a name. Bill

OK, gentlemen ... you are good at this.

I also need this RKT identified. I am fairly sure it is Helmut Ruffler (umlaut over the u).

                          Also autographed.

Concerning the ace in your post above, you´re right: he is Helmut Rüffler (1918-2001). Congratulations.
