Regarding the unidentified General by the palm trees, I believe it is Generalmajor Gottfried von Erdmannsdorff as seen below

To explain the palm trees, he was in command of Division Nr. 465 from 1942-1944 which was formed & based in Epinal for the majority of it's existance which is in the south of France, a place certainly not devoid of the odd Palm tree or two

      Regards
      Gareth

Here are a couple I have in the collection of unidentified RK holders.

The first one is an RK holder recieving the Slovakian Bravery Order.

                        Gentlemen:

This is a very useful thread. I have always thought it was terrible that some of these men could not be identified. The word "unbekannt" on a foto or gravestone is so empty...

I have been looking for a foto of Leutnant d. R. Ewald Utta of 5. Gren. Rgt. 945 (357. ID) or Generalmajor Josef Rintelen. (Born: 7.March 1897 in Esch-Elsdorf. Rintelen was awarded the Ritterkreuz on 5.8.40 as Oberstleutnant and commander of I./ Infanterie Regiment 478 (258. Infanterie Division) and was the first Ritterkreuzträger of this division. Rintelen died on 14. July 1981.)

                        Many thanks!

                          Erich,

                          Check out http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtop...light=rintelen

Only thing I have ever seen of Josef Rintelen.

                          Cheers

If #310 showed veterans from the Cassino Front, then as I had suggested before, the RKT on the right would almost certainly be Obst Heinrich Baron von Behr, Commander of PzGrRgt 200, 90 PzGr Div. This division fought in Cassino in early 44 and von Behr got his RK 23.02.44

                            Cheers
