    Thanks in advance.

Me no thinks F., sure not Bergfuhrerabz. or something similar, looks like a Panzer and a schwarz Verwundetabz. there.
Atferall he was a Panzermann, I bet he was there just for "tourism".

I was NOT referring to the Panzer officer; I meant the medal that almost ALL of the men wear on their right breast (i.e. viewers left). This photo is part of a series of three taken at the same place and all show this medal in wear. Obviously this photo shoot has got to do something with that, no question about it. Hence my question, what kind of a award is it?

          Sorry, I've misunderstood.
If Salzburg, that should be the Hohenfestung Salzburg even if I don't recall that middle-ages paint on the wall.
Maybe a Hohenfestung tinnie or something like a souvenir?

No problem Tom. The photo is taken in Schloss Hellbrunn, das Römische Theater in the garden.

Great place - if one finds themselves in Salzburg, well worth the additional effort to visit . . . and what a magnificent garden - much like Mirabell . . . on a grandiose scale . . .

For those interested; these appear to be similar kind of medals as the one I am referring to in my question:

Too bad about all the red circles though...

                              Red circles are good.

Stops people copying expensive photos and selling them.

I for one am reluctant to buy photos that haven't been protected in some way.

I, too, am curious what the occasion was. A mix of organisations (RAD, Police, W-SS, KM, LW, Gebirgs, etc) and a bevy of civilians. The tinnie had to be some sort of day badge for the occasion.

Perhaps the current caretakers of the Schloss would know.....
